Default C7 VVT Cam package results at New Era Performance

Its still on the dyno and I am still working on the tune a little bit, but after a few pulls it managed to put down 505 rwhp and 464 rwtq and ran out of time for today. The modifications include American Racing MID-length 1 3/4 headers without the front cats (retains the rear 2 cats and mid-pipes), NEP racing axle back exhaust, and NEP VVT C7 Street Cam package with AFM delete. Still has the stock air box and air filter, and could really use an upgrade here based on what I am seeing in the logs. I am very pleased with the results, considering the minimal modifications, and I will probably be switching to a LONG tube header eventually as well as some sort of CAI soon (haven't decided yet), just wanted to see how these parts would work for now. If I can get any more power out of it I will post a new graph up tomorrow. I am revving it to 7150 rpms (Rev limiter set to 7200) and you can see it doesn't really drop off too much, right now peak HP is at about 6650 rpms.

great job!!

Seems like the days of 500rwhp being the number to na (stock cubes, non ls7) are long gone!

Rpm range IS nice and no sudden drop off.

One can only imagine what an intake and real headers will do.

kutgw!

For the CAI I would go for a ECS 1500 and a 200shot!

Love the extended rpm. Is that just thanks to the Vvt? Are others just scrapping it?

An extra 600-700 RPMs would do a lot of good up in the higher ranges - this is exciting to see even at the beginning stages!

Awesome so it seems like the heads and intake can definitely flow enough to make good power at the top of the Rev range as long as the cam supports it!

I assume the AFM delete included going to standard lifters?

Thanks guys! We didn't touch the heads, just removed them to replace the AFM lifters and lifter trays with LS3 lifters and trays and then reinstalled them. Trying to do everything in stages, it baselined at 423rwhp/424rwtq stock. At 6550 rpms, it is up 115 rwhp from stock! Yes, this is thanks to the VVT!

Wow, great work Mike. I know I've said this in just about every thread where a car was modified, but I have to say it again. I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE SOME TRACK TIMES!!!

Good rear wheel numbers for mods considering it also still has the heavy dual mass flywheel robbing power transmitted to the ground!

Finished the tuning today, I was able to get a little more out of it. Here is the finished results graph verses what my C7 baselined at:

It's funny to see 5250 sitting so far back there.

Nice job, again!

That power curve looks scrumptious! I'm just so afraid of camming a car again where the heads have to come off. Unfortunately my last experience with my G8 GT was a nightmare

Any chances of getting an idle clip???

That torque curve reminds me of early day cathedral headed 402 motors.

I bet all of that torque feels really good on the street!

Mike, is there any way of triggering the VVT earlier? looks like there is a marked torque increase. just wondering if this could kick in earlier.
