Default I hate this clutch - it is is too grabby

I've owned and driven many high horsepower manual trans cars. My last one was a 600 Hp Gen IV Viper. I've driven C6Zs and even the ZR1 but NONE of the cars I've owned or driven grabs like the one in my C7!

No matter how smoothly I try to roll out the clutch pedal, it wants to grab almost all at once about 3-4" off the floor. It absolutely ruins the driving pleasure of this incredible car. This is ridiculous.

I've searched this in the forums under 'clutch' but haven't seen any other thread about this. I've talked to my dealer twice and he says it is normal.

I have about 1400 miles on my car and it has not improved since day 1.
Anyone else?

I HATE how this clutch engages.

Take it to a good shop and they can add shims to the pressure plate and the clutch it will move the release motion back on the paddle and smooth it out. I had to do it too my C5 when I changed the clutch on one of the many I went through.

You can do it you self if you are hand with tools but I would take it to a good speed shop and they can help you out. Good luck.

feels the same as my c5z... maybe you just need to wear it in. park your wheels against a curb, rev it up real high and slowly let the clutch pedal out until smoke comes out from under the car. make sure your tires don't spin, just your clutch. your clutch should feel much less grabby when you are finished.

It's one of the grippier clutches I've driven, but certainly not to the point of a Giken or high-friction/ceramic type.

There will be a certain amount of break in over the next few thousand miles. This clutch (in my opinion) was a knee-jerk reaction/fix to the complaints about the C6 being 'too soft'. Makes it that much harder to roll into with more power.

This clutch system does take awhile to get use to. It seems like the master to slave cylinder volume ratios need to be tweaked. It has alot of pressure so it makes it hard to release smoothly.

Really?

You posted the identical opening post over there, were repeatedly told that it is not common and almost everyone's clutch operation was smooth with no grabbing and it was suggested you take it in for service.

You expected a different result over here or what?
