18"/19" Track wheels for Z51. C6 wheels?
Hey all,
I know its been discussed but I am having a hard time finding some answers or ideas.
I have a 14 z51 that I autox about 3 weekends a month during the season. So, alot. at about 6500 miles my stock tires are almost done, and I would like to get a dedicated set of autox wheels and tires.
I would like to run basically the same size (or you tell me) I am now but in 18/19 instead of 19/20. I know everyone is saying go brickyards etc, but im trying to keep the wheels themselves as cheap as possible. I only really do autox, with a rare hpde so I dont need name brand wheels and rather use the money to chew through tires.
Today, at an autox event, my friend let me test fit his c6z wheels, and obviously they fit. They do poke a bit. I think in hard cornering they would rub, and its a lot more tire as well.
So I guess my question is, Would a set of say, 18x8.5 / 19x10 c6z replicas or GS reps in the same size clear? Do they clear on the c6z? That would be a good indication. Its said the base c6 wheels wont clear without a spacer, I have a set on loan in the garage right now that I need to test fit as well, so I can confirm that either way.
Thanks in advance.
TL;DR looking for a cheap setup 18/19 setup (pref less than 1k) for dedicated autox wheels that will rarely be used outside a typical autox setting.

Let me expand.
Ill confirm tonight for myself when I throw on a set of base c6 18/19 wheels on my z51, but it seems that even though the c6 wheels have the same offset and diameter of the z51 wheels while just being an inch smaller in diameter, they dont clear the calipers because of the DESIGN of the wheels. I.e. the spokes dont poke around the brakes enough. So I am curious if you get a design that isnt as flat and or fits around the brakes "normally" on a wider wheel, if they will fit without a spacer.
Ideas:
http://www.performancecorvettes.com/...9.5-19x10.html
http://www.performancecorvettes.com/...9-x-10%22.html
Now before everyone gets up in arms about cheap wheels, these will essentially be autox only wheels and tires. If dont really bend on the street they are very unlikely to bend in a parking lot setting or similar autox course. I do only 1-3 hpde a year as well. So the "forged stronger / lighter" argument is lost on me for the price and the application.

I would look into the rules you are running under before I made a decision. Why make an expensive purchase only to find out your car is now reclassed to something you're uncompetitive in? Sure, you might think that you're just doing it for the fun and you don't care about the results, but a big part of the fun is the competition and most people would rather win than lose.

Wow good stuff, I have the 18/19's today from Cray because their configurator said they would fit but they don't.
I bought some Pirelli Slicks that are used on Ferrari challenge but the wheels didn't fit so I am stuck with tires.

I am curious if you find some cheap 18x8.5 / 19x10 (as opposed to the 18x9 19x10.5 in the post above) wheels since that would keep us in SS as opposed to SSP if we have wider wheels (Houston Region has effectively no one in SSP)...looking forward to seeing what you end up with.

The c6 wheels are the same width and offset, th eonly difference between them and the 14 z51 is the diameter (18/19 opposed to 19/20). So its really more about the design of the wheels. Im not crazy about those golds, but the color is whatever. Essentially, if it will fit over a gs or z06, it will fit our z51, is what I am seeing to be the rule of thumb.

We have a bizzare scenario here, the seller on ebay is saying they test fit these wheels on a Z51 and they didn't fit they required a 15mm spacer to clear the caliper.
Robertf97 has a picture of them on his car fitting perfect with no spacer, very bizzare to say the least. The bottom line is they won't sell them to me because they feel they won't fit.

Tell them you have a 2013.
I thought about getting a set or the last set myself, but Im not sure on what size tire I want to run and I figured I should know that before buying wheels and being locked into certain tire sizes / brands. Not sure If I want to do an 18/19 or an 18/18, or a 8.5/10 or 9/11 width etc. IF IF IF IF IF IF IF IF those reps fit, there are lots of sizes to choose from. But they wont be fancy forged and lighter like these will. But im willing to give that up for the price :/
I just bought a set of V12 tires for the stockers for less than 600 bucks on a closeout deal on tirerack!!! So my stockers will have rubber, the stock tires are almost gone.

I was trying to get the exact wheels in the auction 18/19, I have Pirelli slicks in 275/35/18 and 295/35/19. So frustrating that they won't sell them to me despite all of the evidence to the contrary.

I have been using our GT2 wheels on our car to test with.
I have ran a Bridgestone RE01 and will have a race slicks for them shortly.
18x9 front and 19x10.5 rear. I'm currently running a 265 front tire and 305 rear with it.
Wheels in stock, and great price for a track setup.

If you want an affordable track wheel...its a heck of a deal. If you want a 18lb forged wheel....I can do that too...and we go to a ForgeLine but the cost goes from $1500/set to $6000/set.
For a superlight weight, strong wheel, then yes ForgeLine all the way, and I wouldn't even question it, but that isn't in everyone's price range.
All depends on your budget.
