Who is running the A8 at the drag strip?

Well, they shouldn't be since there was no increase in horsepower. But you are right, there were some high expectations. From the impressions I have read......just a better transmission.

Do you really think I should go into detail about a "better transmission"? I don't think so. Furthermore, let it be and don't get hung up on a simple post. Doesn't mean anything. Sorry to go off topic, tail lights. Thanks

Scraping the splitter.
I would define "better" as more smooth shifting, improved shift feel, more fine-tuned programming (more accurate and seamless up and downshifts) and just better (albeit slightly) all around manners.
Faster? Probably not very much.
There were people talking about it knocking several tenths off 0-60 times. An A6 car with traction will hit 60 mph in ~175-185', which would translate to substantial gains over 1320'. Not going to happen IMO. Maybe a tick or two, but at that small increment, there would have to be tons of statistical data to show it's definitively faster than an A6 car.

It was a complete redesign of the trans, not just essentially adding 2 more gears. It is also their XX90 series much like the 6L90 designed to hold more power since it would be in the Z06. Most have successfully been beating the hell out of the 6L90s in 4500lb CTS Vs for the past 5 years with 600+whp cars being fairly common in that world and 10 second quarter miles also very common.
While this trans will have better mpg and hold more power, the gearing might prove it to be superior on round tracks opposed to straight lines. I'm curious as to the trans temps out of the 8L because my 6L temps SUCK! Hence the additional trans cooler in the works.

Adding two more gears has nothing to do with running the quarter mile as you will only be using the first 3rd or 4th or 5th gears in the transmission(in addition to the first two gears).
The 1/4 mile difference between the A8 and the A6 is in the gear ratios(transmission & rear end), not the total number of gears in the transmission.
