The good air coming I see an 11.2 or.3 in the near future. Like I said above great run OP. Cant wait to see and hear more runs from these A8s. VNAMVET , SNORMAN & BRENT EB02 These guys represent well. And all can drive the A6 and A8. Looking forward to getting my new Z06 with A8. Love my V Coupe but the new Vettes are the Bomb.

Awesome job Brent, and glad to see ya back in a Corvette again as well.
These C7 automatics are running really strong and the A8s are actually improving on the already stellar A6 ETs/MPHs.
I think 11.3s are in the bag but Snorman is right, an 11.29 at 122mph might even be possible in November/December!

Nice job OP.
There are a few Atco rentals coming up, try to jump in one for the great track prep. We were just out there last Monday and it was a great day for racing.
S.
Why round down .09?
You mean 11.49 and you said it would go down "soon" a long time ago.
Well your 11.49 still stands. I was right !

The base a8 is just a little faster.
The average track time for your car is slower and will be from the
a8 base. Plus Im betting it is a 1lt. Quite a bit lighter than yours

You mean 11.49 not 11.4 and you said it would go down a long time ago! I WAS RIGHT! plus the new A8 is at a fast track and likely a 1lt!
This BASE A8 is just a wee faster and quite a BIT LIGHTER.
This is not the norms at slower tracks! Shezz!

This particular 8 speed indeed has a little more in it. Just a little better 60ft would put him in the 11.40's. I am just wondering what it would do with bolt ons..........11.30's 11.20's?

You're still king of the hill for now

However, it looks like the A8 will be worth 0.1 and 1 mph over the A6s.

Not enough to trade up for, but nice to know Chevy is improving the pedigree.

Default This might be a stupid question

I've never drag raced so I have no idea what I am talking about.

How can a base A8 Stingray doing an 11.4 when the Z06 w/7SPD was clocked at 11.2? Is it the Aero kit slowing it down?

I would've thought another 190 hp and tq would amount to more than a .2 second faster time.

Because you are comparing the best times(under the best conditions) a Stingray has recorded to an average time a Z06 has recorded by GM.

For example GM says the C6 Z06 will do 11.7 yet the best time recorded(under the best conditions )is 10.981.

At this point in time, we have no idea what the C7 Z06 will do under the best conditions with a top notch driver. It takes more driver skill to drive a manual transmission than an automatic, on the drag strip.

I'm on the fence now M7 or A8 Decisions, Decisions.
Are you really going to let a few tenths in a 1/4 decide what trans to go with? Is your car going to live at the track?

Sorry for the highjack

I'm a drag racer at heart. I am going to build a high 9sec. S/C street car. 12# t-trim or sl1500 on meth.. between a6 or m7, m7 all the way durability reasons. yes the car will probably be a 10.20 @138-140 with manual. But if this A8 works out then 9.80's should be the norm. But will it hold up? That is to be seen. I have always felt 10.50 and slower row row row your boat. Quicker then autos rule! t400, PG and maybe the new A8. I have a 8.60 turbo buick. Just looking for more street friendly reliable fun.

Thats a bad *** looking car. I was having one built just like it but it was taking too long so I bought one off a lot which is black 2lt fully loaded with black wheels. But I think the white setup like yours makes the car look mean. And you must have one of themoree powerful stock cars they put out, you luckiy B. lol

Except I was gonna have the black stinger stripe too. May think about that one for you, it will tie the front hood in well.

Averages? Norms?
So simply because NOT ALL Corvettes have run these ETs, that means Snorman's or Brent's times don't count?
Lots of attempts to land on the moon have failed.
So does this mean that the achievements of those that HAVE landed on the moon are moot? LOL

And Brent's car is a 2LT, the A8 trans weighs roughly 8 pounds less than the A6.
I'd bet that Snorman's and Brent's cars are well within 25 pounds of each other with identical fuel levels in them.

.
Just to present facts, again I don't think it matters.

both cars are 2lts which is equal weight.

the A8 weighs 8lbs less (that should not factor in as all A8s will weigh less than A6s.

Snormans car is a Z51, Brent's car is Base = base is around 61lbs less.

You are talking 60lbs less just for the car on the 2015, not counting the A8.

The Z51 has 2.73 gearing, the base has 2.56.
I don't know if the 2.73 on the A6 helps it or not in the 1/4?
Snorman always said a Base A6 will go faster in the 1/4.

I think the A8 will yield higher traps as it is in a better gear more often.

I think the A8s faster shifts will make up for it having to shift one more time.

When all is said or done I think the A8 should run 0.1 and 1mph better.

Then again, we need a 2014 A6 base car to tun at ATCO to see how it does, don't look at me, mine is a Vert (add 68lbs) and I just put on a Flowmaster exhaust.
Plus, I owe way too much money on it to even risk it, 2 college tuitions.
