Default 2014 Corvette Diablo tune: Worth it?

Hello, I am a new member, and I am glad to be able to get your opinions on this. I am considering a Diablo tune for my 2014 Stingray. Can anyone respond to this: does it really give you a worthwhile "seat of the pants" acceleration feel. I mean the car is already quick, but does the tune make it pull even quicker. Also, Diablo says no footprint or trace of the tune once it is returned to stock, anyone have alternate views on this? I have $4300 in added warranty protection, I don't want to lose it! Thanks for your valuable opinions! Regards, Dan

Yes, good product, you'll be happy with it! Plus, once uninstalled, the tune is untraceable so the dealer will never know.

Extended warranty from the dealer is customizable based on length, miles, and deductible desired. Mine was $2900 for 5 yr/100k and zero deductible. Its a full GM bumper to bumper warranty extension. He could also have gotten the dealer paint protection as well which they sell for like $600-700. That will get you pretty close right there..

Will let you know my opionon when I get the tunes downloaded to my Intune. Have the AFE CAI and I can tell a difference. Sounds throatier in the engine and seems like I can break the back end easier now. The tune should help alot too. Did a 60 to 100 with and without the AFE. WO was 5.4 With was 4.9. 91 oct and 3500 feet up. So high speeds seems to be good with the AFE.

I have the bumper to bumper everything included extended warranty to 6 years or 125,000 miles since I drive 20,000 miles a year average. I also have tire and wheel warranty, and I have windshield warranty. I drive a lot of freeway, and I get rock chips and stars.I also have the paint protection with the Cilajet paint protection. All the above plus tax came to $4300. Its a lot, but there are no deductibles, and free maintenance. I only pay for tires and brakes. All and all, its a bargain for this car, I have never had a car that was better looking, had performance and handling, and even good mileage when I'm not tearing down some streets in my neighborhood! There is a street near my house that has about 1 mile of clear road, no signals, and I call it my drag strip, and that's exactly what I do!

Thank you Kracka, I think I will try it. I appreciate your getting back to me. I like to make my decision based on peoples experiences rather than from the advertisers!

Is the AFE CAI that good......because that's a big difference?

I had mine for a few months now in conjunction with an AFE intake and Weapon-X ported throttle body. You will have a choice of 4 performance maps: 91-octane, DiabloTune (for 93 octane), AFE intake 91, AFE intake 93. I'm using the bolded.

One nice thing, if for some reason you are unhappy, they do offer a 30-day money back guarantee.

Another plus is that you can get customized tunes from forum vendors. I've got an ECS tune for ARH mid-length headers and the difference is very noticable.

No one, including Diablosport can guarantee that with enhanced forensics GM can't detect that fact that the ECM was refreshed at some point. Although anecdotal evidence shows that normally a dealer cannot detect anything once you refresh back to the original, stock tune there are others who insist there's a flash counter (separate from the CVN) that is incremented and GM can use that as evidence the ECM has been tampered with.

I'm not advocating for one side or the other, just pointing out that there is no guarantee you would not put your warranties in jeopardy.

As with all thing, take what you read on the Internet with a massive grain of salt and unless Diablosport is willing to put IN WRITING that they will cover you if GM denies a warranty claim you have no guarantee.

I tried the Trinity and did not feel the improvements were worth the risk since my car has no additional modifications. If I were doing things like headers, exhaust, intake and throttle body then yes, I think it provides a great platform to dial those parts in.

anecdotal, as in, not a single claim of a warranty issue on any C6 or C7, since this system was introduced, years ago?

Putting in writing that we'd cover anything seems to say we'd admit the tune might cause an issue if used properly, and thats simply not the case.

Thanks

Yes I think it is, now even though the conditions were very close each day, they may have had some to do with the change anlong with just each run being a little different. But as you said since it is a big difference I think that shows it does really help up top at WOT.

Mike,

I understand what you are saying but he asked the question about warranty and technically, any change has associated risks. I believe your product is undetectable but there is a rather vocal tuning community that questions that. I'm not sure why other than they are frustrated because their tuning solution does increment the CVN counter or they just want to read their own writing but they are somewhat relentless.

I wasn't proposing a blanket type of guarantee but something along these lines.

"If you are denied warranty coverage due to the manufacturer claiming you had, at some point, installed a non-factory program into your vehicle's ECM Diablosport will refund your purchase price in full".

If you really wanted to shut everyone up you could extend that to covering any component where warranty was denied but that poses a much higher risk profile. Not so much that your product causes problems but from people who make additional mods yet try to fall back on your guarantee when they screw up.

Again, I was only trying to make sure the OP understands there is risk and they need to make an informed decision before they move forward, that's all.

Please let me know when you get the tune, I am anxious to find out what you think! I hope you feel it is a very noticeable difference over stock. Not that stock is so bad either!

Had put a Diablosport tune on my C5 years ago and gained .3 in the quarter mile. I was very impressed with the difference it made in power. I would recommend.
