Just another 700 rwhp C7 leaving ECS with only 3 mods SC - ARH - meth injection

I called ECS about 3-4 weeks ago with this VERY question. As it was explained to me, the supercharger is capable of producing a lot of boost if the restrictor plate is removed. The 3 mods that are popular on C6's / C7's will generally land you in the 650whp range. The manual trans cars can generally put down higher numbers due to less drive train loss vs the automatic. For us auto trans peeps (particularly us A6 owners), ECS explained that the A6 may be approaching its limit at those horsepower levels so to air on the side of caution, A6 owners may want to consider their HP levels vs the longevity of their A6 transmissions (or even upgrade the trans altogether). So that leaves me in the same boat as other A6 owners.. My goal IS to have a SOLID 700 whp. I'm already accumulating the parts I need to make it happen. ECS supercharger, LT headers, meth injection (and also ported throttle body, ported stock heads and an aftermarket intake manifold). I don't race my C7 (1/4 mile or road course) but certainly every blue moon, I might take it out to a local drag strip. If I ever decide to put the accelerator down to the ground, it would definitely be on a roll and not from a dead stop. We've all seen the dyno sheets on the 3 mods and if you look a little closer, the higher HP numbers all seem to be the M7 cars.. not the A6's. Still, I believe there are a few honest to goodness 700 whp A6's floating around but I'm not sure if any of them ONLY have the 3 mods done. I suspect they probably have cams / heads or even a small squeeze of NOS.

10-11 lbs, much less then what a C6 would require.
I think the Vengeance guys have been in the 9's, most are low tens. It seems most are not willing to launch the car hard enough to get those last couple of tenths, and I cant' really blame them.
We have done a few out of here, the new trans shifts much nicer then the A6's even without tuning available yet.
We like to leave the Auto's a little lower for longevity, 650 seems to be where they last, there is always the exception though. Most of the C6 A6's we have done that run 9's with this combo have lasted at 700 rwhp, but we feel it is on the edge.
Or ported intakes, throttle bodies etc. That's one of the nice things with boost! Plus our C7 kit comes with plenty of room to spin the blower harder, even with the restrictor plate removed it's not even close to max RPM of the blower.

love the headers and x pipe exhaust
like to see more details and some blower pics
you all have a really nice package and it works!!!
I'm hoping to see more info on the A8
it's exciting to think of a performance factory automatic again
like to see if I can swap a c6 cradle and the a8 auto into a c5
I just think it will be really cool once the standalone controller and paddle shift capability is developed to retro fit this tranny to the older car if it's feasible
the 8 spd tranny certainly looks beefy and a z06 trans calibration that is beefed up with stronger parts is what I'm looking for down the road
I've been very happy with the twin turbo with the auto trans
quite a bit of fun, just want more control over the shift strategy and I'm holding out for the Z06
8 spd
coming to a junkyard near you soon

I'm going with a plate and limiting boost. Say 600rwhp.
Which LT header? 1 7/8" or 2"
Also debating on cats or no cats - is there much gains to be had on the cats question?
Thanks in advance ECS for your input.

On a side note. From the General himself:
The 8L90 also has a max torque rating of 738 lb-ft of twisting force.
Glad I got the 8L90 in mine

I would go with the 1 7/8" for your application, that would sustain way over what you're looking to make.
As far as cats go, the gain would be next to nothing at 600 rwhp, especially with a high flow cat. With a proper tune they should last just fine at that level too, so no need to have a smelly exhaust IMO.
Plus it is federal law.. but I know some area's do not police it, they sure do in NJ!

That's at GM standards too! So you know we can lean on it much harder. Which is good because lets face it, they needed to redeem themselves after putting out the 2006 A6.

Of course, we have done a ton of them, I'm just about to call it quits for today but I'll try and post some up tomorrow. If you do a search there have been several posted though.
Keep in mind too, what number it produces is up to the customer, you tell me the number you want the car to make, and that's what you will leave here with if it's within our guide lines to make. Meaning I cant make over 600 rwhp on pump gas, we have to use meth injection at that point for the octane and fueling needed.
Most stock auto's leave here around 550/550 to the tire with our base kit only, that seems to be the happy spot for pump gas octane without pushing it too hard.

right about that, not counting spike from converter I had just the kit and asked for a tune that prioritized drivability and reliability.

Very excited.. Just received an email. My ECS supercharger, meth kit and ARH's just shipped. My Z51 will be "going under the knife" in March. I'm very happy with my purchase and looking forward to being introduced into the boost club!
