Default Just Installed Texas Speed C7 Headers Installed On Jack Stands!!

We've had a lot of customers asking about installing the TSP headers on the ground with jack stands. As a result we did our header install on our shop 2015 A8 on the floor! Here's what I learned:

Link:
http://www.texas-speed.com/p-4408-te...ad-x-pipe.aspx

1. Headers can be installed with the 3" x pipe no problem on the ground.

2. Make sure you are mind full to zip tie the o2 wiring out of the way before you install the x pipe. Fishing your hands around everything while your on the ground is not fun!

3. You can do the complete install in about 5 hours depending on skill level.

4. Getting up & sliding under a car quickly reminded me I'm getting old!!

Here's a few pics of the install I snapped with my phone.

Cat X Pipe being installed:

Can you post a sound clip of this set up in the car? Anyone?
Post here if you know of one.

Will this setup (with catted x-pipe) cause a CEL without a custom tune?

Thanks,

-M

I assume since it is long tubes and you would have to delete the rear o2's that yes you will get a code without a tune.

Why do the valve covers have to come off?

The valve covers are taken off to give us a little more clearance when sliding the headers in so they don't hit the valve cover and let you move them around and put them into place. The second reason is so you have easy access to fit your and in to remove and replace the header bolts and spark plugs.

Just got it finished up. I will say they are very loud! They sound amazing and the vid does not do them justice. As far as fitment it touches the tranny on the passenger side by the exhaust hanger. I think I'm gunna put some header wrap on it right there so it doesn't rattle. For any wondering what's done to the car it has an ecs kit and I just installed the lmr breather along with the headers. I'm dropping it off Monday to have an aem meth kit installed and a tune. It made 553whp with just the ecs kit. I will update on power gains when I get it back probably mid week.

The 2015 a8 test car just dropped 2 tenth a in the 1/4 mile with near identical density altitude after installing the tsp 1 7/8" ling tubes! Very similar to what Brent gained on his car! I'll post side by side videos adap!!

They install from the top side?

No, they install from the bottom, but to get the correct angle it is much easier to remove the valve cover. This way the header flange doesn't catch on the valve cover and get stuck before they are in.

Also very helpful to have them removed when removing and reinstalling the header bolts

Just got a quote from my shop for 10 hours or labor to install these! I have a feeling its half that! I am not spending $850 to put them in!

I would love to DIY this and spend $200 on jack stands and a floor jack!

Can someone give me some pointers. I am an average DIYer. Any long wrenches or anything needed? sizes? Thanks!

That's a crazy price! Youch! $1000 to install? Let me know where your at & I'll find you a shop that installs our stuff.

On a side note the C7 test car went 2 tenths faster in the 1/4 mile after installing the headers!

I know, that was shocking! I am in Delray Beach FL. 33483. I am going to Fine Work Auto in Boca Raton next week. He said he did a lot of c6's in 5-6 hours. Sound about right?
