Default Toyo R888 fitment on stock Z51 rims

As a new guy I apologize if this question has been asked and answered before. I have a traction issue to deal with and I would like to solve it by installing a set of Toyo R888's (265/35-19 fronts and 315/30-20 rears) on my stock Z51 wheels. I realize the R888's require rims that are 1/2 in. wider front and rear than my stock wheels but I'm willing to live with that reality. I want to maintain my stock wheels as I like my cars to appear stock and I love the chrome Z51 wheels.
Have any of you tried these tires on the stock Z51 wheels and if so, did you run into any problems?
Appreciate any help and/or guidance you can give me.

I'm curious as well. I purchased a set of 20 Mickey Thompsons with intentions of installing on my factory wheels and have since learned they will not fit due to their height. I rode in the red Vengeance C7 shop car with the R888's but he had different wheels. The tires worked well considering the HP his car was making. My build is almost identical to Theata's. I anticipate just at 900 wheel as well. I really don't want to change wheels just the tires. I have seen many post but nothing great for the stock 20" wheel. My car is to be completed in the next couple weeks. If I do have to change wheels I'll go ahead and switch to 18" for more options. My intended use of the car is roll racing not dig racing also. Would love to see a pic of the 315's on a car if they worked.

I'm not sure if this is anything you might consider but a few companies such as Weldcraft Wheels can actually widen your factory rims (or even narrow the rims). Love them or hate them, I hear arguments from both sides of modifying factory rims. If memory serves me correctly, they modify rims without using a donor rim and can add 1/2 inch increments, starting at an initial one inch starting point. So, your 20x10 rims can be widened, starting at 20x11. I'm not sure if adding 1 inch to the backside of your factory rims would interfere or impede any rim to body contact. If it IS something your interested in and if it does work like a lot of people say, you would be able to keep the "factory" look but "secretly" maintain the sleeper image of a factory rim (albeit a stickier 315/30-20 R888 tire).

Default Toyo R888's Fitment on Stock Rims

I have not completed my build yet so I can't quote actual dyno results.
Mike from Vengeance is coming out to do my tune the 1st week of Jan. and he estimates we should end up in the low 700's RWHP. If the car actually ends up making that much RWHP the stock tires are not going to get the job done. Hence, my interest in the Toyo R888's.

900 RWHP should make for one hell of a ride. I, like you, want to maintain my stock Z51 wheels. I like the stealth looks of stock wheels. Sure hope someone out there has tried the R888's on the stock wheels.

I like the concept of widening the stock wheels but I'm concerned about fitment issues with all of the increase in rim width being added to the inside of the wheel.

I'd be interested to know as well, I think the R888 is going to be the best option for daily use (if not daily an NT05R is probably better). They make the R888 in a 295/35/20 as well if the 315 won't work on the factory rim.

In 50-60* weather right now in Dallas I'm getting no traction in 2nd at all on stock tires and base ECS kit making around 560rwhp. Should hook in the spring but I'll probably be adding another 100hp with meth sooner rather than later and it looks like stock tires are going to be no bueno for 2nd and 3rd gear at 600+ rwhp...

Hey.. Fort Worth here. This weather, for the past few days, have totally been unfriendly.. I can only imagine how a R888 will perform at 600+ whp on the roads here in DFW.

I'm at around 650rwhp and I love the 888's but I am running an 11" wheel with 315's. My car s going in for cam /headers/heads/internals beginning of the year.

I agree. The stock Michelins are not going to cut it at your power levels. This is exactly what started me moving in the direction of the R888's. It's just that I want to keep my stock wheels to maintain the stock appearance of my car plus I like the looks of the Z51 wheel more that about 90% of the aftermarket wheels I've seen pictures of.
I was really hopping that someone out there had tried to mount the 315/30-20 and 265/35-19 R888's on stock wheels.

You may get a 315 on the stock wheel but it will not look right. Its too wide of a tire for the stock wheel. This is a pic of the 315's but on an 11" wheel.

Also be careful with the 888s in the wet, they are not the best rain tire.

The R888s are not the end all be all for traction. They do pretty good on a track coming out of corners but if you think you are going to roll around on the street and they are going to hold when you apply copious throttle you are mistaken. I have run them on a couple cars and they don't even hold an abrupt application of 500hp.

Yes, they will be better than stock tires, but not night/day.

What's a good street traction tire that doesn't guarantee your death in the rain?

Personally I would stick with the Michelin but in a non run flat and maybe a 265 or 285 front and a 305 rear and stick to the stock tire height and simply control yourself on the street.

I love eleventy billion HP as much as the next guy but it really has no place on public roads. My 01 Z06 had 850 HP and would get sideways at 90 mph with drag radials on it....I'm over that.

That's INSANE, yea that is why my C7 i just want to do simple bolt ons and enjoy it. My C6 was supercharged meth injected and scary as hell. I enjoyed driving it more when it was stock.
