Default [VR] Theta's 416/Novi 1500 C7 Build - 881/802 on 93 octane and meth

The owner of the vehicle displayed in this thread needs no introduction to the CorvetteForum C7 community. Our good friend "Theta" has contributed a lot of very good DIY information to the community, and we are very proud to be a part of his build!

Theta's car arrived to us several months back with the original plan of us installing our LT1 custom camshaft kit, buttoning up his methanol system install, and a new set of wheels and tires. This quickly snowballed as time went by, and ended up turning into a max-effort build on the ECS 1500 supercharger system.

First, we started with pulling the OEM LT1 short block and began building the 416c.i. heartbeat for the new build.

The engine consists of:
* Wiseco Custom Forged Piston Set
* Callies Compstar Connecting Rod Set
* Callies 4" Magnum Crankshaft
* Calico Coated Main/Rod Bearings
* ARP Main Stud Kit
* ARP Head Bolt Kit
* VR Stage I 416 Custom Camshaft (Non-DOD/retains VVT)
* VR CNC Ported Cylinder Heads
* OEM Intake Manifold

Once we had the engine assembled, we were ready to start placing it back in the cradle and begin re-installing the supercharger and methanol systems.

Check out those custom billet Vengeance Racing valve covers!

The supercharger is the base ECS Novi 1500 system with no restrictor plate installed and a 12psi pulley.

For methanol, we upgraded Theta's existing single-nozzle AlkyControl system to their dual nozzle setup with our IAT breakout kit. We also installed a Dewitt's high-performance radiator and LMR 160* billet thermostat/housing for additional cooling help.

To top off the build, we also installed a C7 Z06 front grille assembly and a set of Cray Brickyard wheels wrapped in Toyo R888 rubber to both improve the styling and help with the new-found loss of traction on OEM tires.

---

After a thorough break-in procedure and driveability tuning, it was time to hit the rollers. At a 12psi, we were able to achieve a neck-breaking 881rwhp / 802rwtq

Overall the car drives like a baby while still making monstrous power for any street car. Be sure to look out for this blue devil to be tearing up the streets in the midwest once the snow clears!

Nice job guys, I think that's the highest numbers I have seen from a 1500 head unit.

Pretty incredible numbers, I would assume the stock clutch had to be upgraded?

Stock clutch is still holding. We were concerned with retaining as much drivability with this build as possible and given our experience with our C7 decided to retain the stock clutch to see how well it will perform.

FWIW, we had zero issues on the chassis dyno for tuning and/or on the street during tuning sessions.

Congrats Sean. My car is going into the shop in about 2 weeks for basically the same setup. I can't wait to hear your thoughts on it!

Dead serious - was gone for a little while there, completely missed this. Was replying to Shawn's thread and saw some others and thought "where's my thread?"...

Saw it on Facebook last week and commented there. Searched David's posts and here it is. Kind of sad/funny in this case. Shows how many posts there are nowadays, though!

Is this a drag racing vehicle or Track car? Is the drive line and brake setup upgraded?
Without any discounts, how much does this cost, approximately?

From start to final drive out, how long does one expect to wait for completion of a project of this magnitude?
Thank you.

Weekend driver, if that. Still don't think it has 1000 miles on it - no clue at this point as it's been a while since I've driven it. Have a nicely modded (405awhp) M235i for daily driving and poor weather. Yay xDrive!

Drive line and brakes are stock. Brakes are still adequate for the street, though I could see an issue on the track from what's been posted here. Carbon Z07 package would fix that, but no way would it pay off for me at that price.

Clutch probably needed to be replaced, but the VR shop car held 900whp for the life of the car getting beaten on and raced often. Stock clutch is going to fail at some point, but we'll find out just how much it can take for a pleasure car - no strip or track use.

I'd have to refer you to Ron or David for this. Mine didn't fall into a package - we honestly had calls every week back and forth adding and changing things along the way. It just kind of evolved over several months into a monster.
I know they have packages to choose from, but that wasn't the way we went into it from a billing standpoint.

That's a case-by-case basis. My build took about the same time as everyone else's because we were waiting for Callie's to fix their machines, make parts, etc. You'd have to give Ron a quick call or PM David to see what their lead times are now. I know it's much faster now that all of the parts are pretty standardized. We didn't even have ARP studs until the very end there.

Funny enough, we had this conversation about my car in Shawn's build thread (he has roughly the same car): https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...d-results.html

The bottom line is that for this power level, and my desired power curve (600wtq at 3000rpm, 550wtq at 2500rpm etc), and then taking into account this this is a street vehicle that will not see over 6000rpm, the 2200 was just overkill. We don't hit overspin until after 6000 (from the calculations I had from months ago).

It wasn't really a money issue since we were already so far in, but the blower hangs on, and doesn't really give up. Shawn's wavers a little bit up top, but mine stays flat on out. Most likely just a conditions issue for the different runs.

Not saying a 2200 isn't a good idea for someone else in the same boat, but I didn't need anything over 1000hp. We shot for 900whp and kept a large safety margin in there with maximum torque at lower levels.

As someone pointed out, the 2200 would be more efficient with a plate in there, or a beast without one, but we would have restricted it to 900whp, and I don't think we were going to make anything over 800wtq even with the bigger blower in play on pump gas + meth.

Graph of two Novi 1500 416s (mine and Shawn's):
