Default Any solution to disable sealbelt warning sound

Hi, I´m Edgar from the german forum and looking for help.

Has anyone found a solution to remedy this terrible sound when you're not wearing the seatbelt? I can´t stand it anymore.

Yes, usually I'm strapped, but sometimes ...

Best regards

Edgar

If you're using a harness that doesn't (for some reason) tie into the factory clip, you can use a generic 'seatbelt socket buckle' found on eBay, etc. Some companies have made brands out of them (Chimex, etc).

Ok thanx for the answer, of course I can install a seat belt socket to stop the seat belt alert, but I´m looking for a electronic solution.

Best regards

Edgar

The restraint system alarm cannot be electronically removed without disabling two modules in the BCM. This is not possible at the present time.

The only other option is to alter the seat plug, itself, or the wires leading into the sensor switch. Both of these will trigger a SES / CEL.

Cut the buckle out of any GM wrecked car and just click in the buckle with no belt attached
Cut the buckle out of any GM late model wreck and just click in the buckle without the belt attached

Same as suggested in post 2, but OP stated in post 3 that he was looking for another solution.

Damn. The dealership turned mine off in the Lexuses and in my Mustang, it was just a quick pedal dance.

I cannot believe a dealer would do that and I also cannot believe the manufacturer would make that system defeatable as it is a safety factor. Guess Ford and Toyota have a better idea.

I was able to have it 'coded' out of my M3. Not sure if that's possible w/ the C7.

The *ONLY* reason I did that was when I'm driving around the paddock @ a track between sessions (we're normally driving 10-15 mph there), I'd normally not buckle up.

Very true, George - I write a lot of tutorials and walkthroughs on BMW and MINI coding, and that's one of the nice features about the relatively open-ness of the 'user-configurable' BCM. They have quite a few good settings for coding between race/non-race, and it's cheap and easy to do so (especially if you speak German ).

Unfortunately, the GM BCMs have not shared the same idea - they're locked up tight, and the C7 is no exception.

As mentioned earlier, this will cause a SES/CEL to appear and stay until both the wiring is restored, and an MDI clears the ABG codes.

It's bad news to clip anything in the ABG part of the BCM.

I'd prefer it was locked, to be honest.

Just trying to keep people from making mistakes with bad info by supplying the appropriate warnings.

no it wont.. like I've said I've done it many times to many different vehicles including C6 and C5 with no adverse effects. If you know how the belt receiver works.... The clip enters the receiver and opens the switch remove the clip and it closes the switch. It isn't rocket science. Cut the 2 wires going into the receiver and the swtich will forever be open, no lights, no chime.. no problem

Thank you, I know how this works on the C7. I also have the schematics for the electronic circuit - it's not a simple ground pull-up. If you have it, look at the connector - it's different from the C6.

This thread needs to be locked and removed before people listen to the wrong information and end up getting hurt.

a) Find the source of the noise under the dash.
b) identify the speaker
c) turn upright
d) fill speaker cavity with epoxy
e) wait overnight
f) reinstall.

Please note that CorvetteForum does not promote nor condone the idea disabling the seatbelt warning sound.
