Default '14 C7 vs '15 C7--which is better???

As far as the auto transmissions which car would be better to get..I read good things and bad things about the a6 and the a8..i want a c7 which I'm gonna do mods to it but which trans is more suitable. I drag race so I wanna know which is better and I also see that there aren't any stalls for the a8...I also notice that the a6 trans seem to shift diff like there are a delay between shifts doesn't seem to shift like the a6 c6...wht are u guys opinions??

I have a 14 A6 and would prefer the A8 because it holds more torque, accelerates a little quicker, and gets better mileage. I don't have any problems with the A6 shifting though.

I have a 15 A8 but would like to drive an A6 to see the difference. Just curious!

Do they make stall converters and trans tuning software for the a8 yet...also what is the a8 rated at "hp/tq" I see the a6 is rated at about mid 400s...

Well for the A8 i read that its 738 pound ft of toque. Thats what the Z06 is rated at. They say that the C7 A8 is the same. I am a bit skeptical that its that high but who knows.

I dislike both of them in reality for performance driving or drag racing although I have a C7 A6 ---On the A6 in drive it is in 5th gear at 38 MPH and 6th at 53---and the TCC locks up at 35 and 44 respectively----The stock tune has you driving around town in 5th gear at 1300 RPM at a 45 speed limit---So the engine is constantly lugging around--Trans tuning helps greatly--They are no fun to drive in town- in drive---I can only imagine an 8 speed would even be worse !! As for drag racing on the A6 you'll never go past 3rd anyway so no big deal--haven't seen an A8 tune file yet
As for paddle shifting --- the A6 is my only experience---Not really a bad deal at all--I prefer it actually-- One good thing is that while in MANUAL mode the trans only downshifts to 2nd gear when you come to a stop--This is great as it eliminate 1 extra shift---2nd gear is plenty low enough to leave a stop while driving around normally-- If a Mustang pulls up next to you---you have the option to paddle it down to the granny
low 4.02 1st gear !!

Of course the '15's gonna be better....it's a year newer. 2014 fell into place to be my year to finally visit the museum, see the sinkhole and drive home a souvenir. I don't regret a moment of last year. At this point why buy a '15, '16's are coming.....but '17's will be better!
Pick a time and do it.....stalling the decision only puts you closer to the grave.

The 2014 with A6 is better because that is what I have

Seriously, get the newest year car you can.

Even is the A6 proves to be faster than the A8 in the 1/4, it is the only thing it would be better at, I would still take the A8 over the A6, it is newer technology.

Gear ratios of an A8 vs an A6

4.56 2.97 2.08 1.69 1.27 1.00 0.85 0.65
4.02 2.36 1.53 1.15 0.85 0.67

After doing the research on the gear ratios of the 14 vs 15 automatics I was in-correct about the nest results---I assumed the 2 more gears were strictly fuel mileage based but I was wrong----The LOWER AND CLOSER gears of the A8 make it much more quicker up to 100 MPH and in the 1/4 mile with the same engine
Even though the non Z51 has a rear diff of a 2.41 the net results are a still a lower and closer overall final drive
2015 A8 rear diff (non Z51 ) is 2.41
2015 A8 Z51 rear diff is still a 2.73
2015 Z06 has a rear diff of 2.41 ( seems odd but I guess with 600+ HP it doesn't matter)
Not sure if you can get a Z51 rear diff in a Z06
