DOT 4 for every day use?
What are the downsides of keeping DOT 4 fluid in the braking system? I had a C5 Z06, and only used DOT 4 (super blue) every day. I did search the forums (that seems to be the first question I get) and couldn't find a clear answer. Doesn't mean the answer isn't already listed though.
I do plan on running HPDE's, thought I'm not a really aggressive driver.
Thanks for any help.

Of course you can run it daily. It will just be more expensive but will give you a higher boiling point. I'm not sure about the hygroscopic abilities between the 2 though. Other than giving you a more expensive brake fluid change/cost increase being the downside, you will get all of the good points of using a higher wet and dry boiling point.
It appears that DOT 4 absorbs less water than DOT 3. So it seems that this is another good point for using DOT 4.

I used DOT 4 in my 08 for 6 years. Never had an issue. DOT 4 is less prone to aborbing water and has a higher boiling point. Not sure of any downsides except it costs more.

I use hi temp brake & clutch fluid and do a few HPDE's a year. I just change the fluids at the start of the season. Before each HPDE, I change to 15-50 oil and a track alignment, then change alignment and oil after the event.
