Default 10K to spend on HP

2014 2LT Z51 M7. Daily driver here in Oklahoma, and I put about 110 miles a day on it during the week. I am looking to spend about 10k to improve the power of the car. Looking to supercharge but do not want to kill my mpg if driving conservatively. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

A centrifugal kit is your ticket my friend. Most importantly, shop around for a good installer and the BEST tuner that you can find. Headers are great for sound, but do not add much power at moderate boost levels (7 - 9 PSI), so they are not a great investment. Although I do believe that they make more of a difference at 12+ pounds of boost or so. You can run methanol injection if you want to push the envelope power wise with more boost and a more aggressive tune.

We just got our car back today. Like you, we have a 2014 Z51 Stingray (but it's an A6 3LT). Here is what we spent (roughly)..

ECS 1500 Supercharger ($5200)
ECS alky meth kit ($650)
American Racing Long Tube Headers ($2000)
LMR Catch Can - newest revision ($1100)

The misc cost of the install and tune added another $4000 or so to the final number but if you shop around, depending on what you end up deciding is right for you, it may be a little more or less. Our C7 dyno'd at 662 rwhp and max torque was 585 ft-lbs. The car is well mannered and unless you keep your foot planted in the accelerator, you would barely notice that you have soooo much power on tap. Even with just a supercharger, install and tune, you will have roughly an extra 150+ rwhp on demand. That's plenty for almost anyone.. Just our .02 cents.

The great thing about a centrifugal sc is that you are not in boost during normal cruising rpm range so fuel economy isn't greatly affected.

Unless you step on it.

Where in oklahoma are you located. I'm in oklahoma as well. And have a great car.. even at 908 rwhp my gas mileage doesn't suck. While cruising that is lol.

I can refer you to the same builder I used. He will be more than happy to assist.. I agree.. centrifugal is best way to go. I have a procharger kit and love it. I would get a blower kit, cam, heads and exhaust and meth. I use devils own. And couldn't be happier. Get you great deal on alot of these items from the people I got parts off of.

Nice! I am located in the major city of Henryetta, OK Can you explain the meth kits to me? I understand what they do, is it something you "turn on and off" when you need/want it, or does it run all the time. Is Methanol easy to come by in Oklahoma? I am in Tulsa every weekday.

Seems reasonable for all the work he had done. It takes almost a week to get all the done so you are looking at $125 hour for 30-40 hours.

It's not too outrageous for the work that was completed. But, they took their time and everything seems to be done to a high standard. The car was down for about two weeks for everything that had to be installed, fabbed and tuned.

VERY nice sir! Wow, excellent results.

A meth injection kit will do several things. 1st it will lower the intake air temperature (IAT) greatly, resulting in more HP, maybe around 30hp or more. Its also a good safeguard because it raises the octane level of the fuel charge being sprayed into the cylinders. And as an added bonus in direct injection engines it helps clean the intake valves since fuel now is sprayed directly into the cylinder through an injector.

Meth injection is built into the tune to only spray under boost under heavy/full throttle. Most just use the windshield wiper tank to hold it because its there, and already has a low level warning light built into it. You should be able to buy a 5 gallon drum of 100% methanol from a local speed shop for $40. Depending on driving habits a 5 gallon drum will last quite a while.

The price they charged to install the catch can is out right ridiculous. It took me no longer than an hour to install mine in the garage. That's assembling the lines and everything. Gave my tuner 20 bucks to weld the valve covers.

We do not have the ability to work on our own car nor do we have anywhere to do our own installations. All we can do is leave the work up to very well trained and knowledgeable individuals to have a good track record of completing custom work at a reasonable cost. With that said, we are VERY happy with our car and extremely happy with our performance results!
