Tracking an SC'd car...I know, but...
So for the past 10 out of 12 years we have run HPDE's at a local track. We have not the past 2 years due to being too busy with our other business.
I decided this year to SC the car with the plans of never going to the track this year and if we got back into HPDE's again we were going to pick the wife up a Boxster and use that.
Now of course a customer has asked us to put on a corporate event for them at a local track.
I plan on doing the Z06 brakes if it works out for the other forum user. I have an ECS kit going in the next 2-3 weeks. If I do a Dewitts and run high octane gas what are my risks in doing so?
Second question is, can I do the Dewitts and the IC for the ECS kit?
Is overheating my only risk? This is a pretty high rpm track. I'd say 70 percent of the track your over 4500rpm and per lap you'd hit redline 9 times.
Bad idea or not?

Absolutely - I do.
Your transmission, on the other hand, may end up overheating. If you have an automatic, this is quite a bit more likely. Thus far, the best recommendations have been to wrap the exhaust pipes that travel along the length of the transmission in a high-heat wrap to cut down on ambient heat.
Until we have another strategy for a cooling retrofit, that's about the best bet.

We have had many customers go to HPDE's now. Since the intercooler is not blocking the radiator on the C7 kit they do very well. Put 100 octane in the tank and have fun!

If I had a non Z51 car then I would recommend a radiator replacement since the non Z51 radiator is about half the thickness of the Z51 package.
Call it cheap insurance.

Supercharged road course car:
Need higher octane fuel to keep from detonation (or knock sensor pulling timing which c7 has)
Higher oil temps if supercharger in plumbed in to engine oil
Tires, Brakes, and Gas go away at a amazing rate of speed
will need the best brake fluid $$$$$
Fuel cost get super crazy when having to run race gas 8$ a gallon and getting 3-4mpg.
I would love to boost my c7 but I want to road course my car eventually so I wont boost it for that reason. Superchargers work great for street/strip setup even the occasionally track day. To me the risk of detonation or having to run race gas $$$ just isn't worth it to me. NA is more reliable and consistent than boosted. The supercharged power is insanely addictive

I had no intention of tracking it once the SC was on, but this opportunity came up and they are paying for us to put the event on.
HPDE's are expensive. I used to rent a car, and may do so this time also. $1,500 for the car for the day, plus gas, trailer, truck, etc...

One of our more regular track guys does, but most do not. C7's are much better then the C5/6's, but with a stock radiator I would just adjust my driving style a bit. With the addition of HP and TQ it is not necessary to rev it to the moon, the car is making the same power at 4k as a stock car would at red line, or more for that matter. That keeps the temps much more at bay.

Everyone knows we are a fan of meth injection (100% meth) but I still recommend putting some 100 octane in the tank for a race day. You cannot go back and correct that problem for the cost of a few gallons of fuel. You are putting the car to the extreme, prepare it properly. If that happens to be the day you got bad fuel at the pump, which happens all the time, adding a portion of your fueling with meth my not be enough.
Call it cheap insurance.

That's why you only go to the track when the customer is paying

Put high octane gas in the car. Upgrade the brake fluid. Watch the trans temp. When the trans gets close to the red come off the track and let the car cool down. After about 1 hour you can go back out on the track. In my experience the trans will be your problem and as long is you come off and let it rest after it gets hot it seems to handle heat cycling fine. I have an auto but have heard the guys with the manual that are driving real fast are having similar problems. Have fun.

Automatic or Manual?
If Auto, forget it.
Is the track Waterford, Grattan or Gingerman?
If it's Waterford, I bet you will be fine since it's a slower track.
Gingerman or Grattan and you will be in trouble overheating the engine, brakes (more at gingerman) and trans if you are pushing the car.

This is a smaller group, most own some kind of performance car but we're going to bring a few with us.
I've driven Grattan hundreds of times. You run at a very high RPM most of the time.
