Default LMR New Air Intake Testing

Finally received the final piece of the puzzle in my build to date. I have been in contact with Late Model Racecraft (LMR) regarding their new air intake. I was fortunate enough to be the recipient of the first pre-production prototype to test on my C7. Mods for this test were Texas Speed Longtube Headers, E85 Flex conversion and tune for those mods Vehicle rolled onto LMR’s dyno for a couple of baseline pulls to be sure everything was ok. Fuel in the vehicle was at 60% ethanol for the runs. 3 Baseline pulls were done with the same results within 1 hp and torque at 458 HP and 462 torque. Installed new high flow filter and LMR intake and first pull showed some gains but AFR was lean, so retuned and added fuel to get to a safe 12.9 AFR throughout the pull. New results were 470 hp and 476 torque, 12 hp and 14ftlbs of torque. The intake assembly looks very clean and OE looking and big plus in my book, and fit perfectly. Overall I am impressed with the gains on an already modded car and on the street where it matters, feels like a different animal. Who knows, with cooler weather and fuel closer to 85% ethanol maybe 500 hp is closer than I think. I am sure with head and Cam work we would be well over 500 hp, but that is another chapter in the evolution of my car. I have attached a video done by LMR of the results. Thanks to the LMR Crew for their dedication to Performance

Looks good! Power numbers are nice but you are right, that OEM style look does it for me. Any word on price or release date? What filter did you use, green?

Very glad you are happy with the system Clint, I knew you would be able to feel the difference on the road.

Our specialists has spent the last year developing a new intake system for the 2014-2015 Corvette C7. Our cold air intake is designed by racing engineers who sought to provide the most performance available for high horsepower Corvettes, and still maintain OEM functionality.
By using quality workmanship and premium components our cold air intake is an OEM grade product and provides more horsepower output than any other on the market.
This result in the retail customers getting the most horsepower per dollar invested, more “Bang for the buck”.

Corvette cold air intake system:

Our intakes are all about improving airflow to your Corvette’s engine. It’s just a matter of superior design. Better airflow translates into a noticeable increase in power, acceleration and most importantly without engine modifications.
But to experience the ultimate gains in power you may want to add modifications (i.e., tuning, cylinder heads, camshaft, headers, exhaust, etc.) that will satisfy horsepower output demands with the higher airflow capacity of the Air intake.

Research & Development

During our testing, we first measure the restriction of the airflow through your vehicle’s original induction system in order to establish a baseline. The goal of a performance intake kit is to reduce the restriction of the airflow to your vehicle’s engine. In layman’s terms, we want to make it easier for the engine to breathe.
By reducing the restriction of the airflow, your engine will have better throttle response and produce more horsepower and torque. Therefore your engine will not have to work as hard to produce the required amount of power – the result is faster acceleration and power on demand.
The addition of any engine modifications (i.e., cylinder heads, camshaft, headers, exhaust, programming, etc.) that increase horsepower output will demand the higher airflow capacity of the cold air induction system.

Back it up with test results:

Airflow test results for the C7 Corvette showed 25% more airflow than the original factory intake system.
The Dyno test above is on a C7 equipped with headers, E85 and a tune, has indicated an increase of 12+ rwhp.
Bigger gains can be expected on stock C7 Corvettes with a recommended engine tune with our system for peak performance results.

Benefits of a Intake Kit:
• Custom high-performance plenum isolates the intake air path from engine heat, drawing in cooler outside air to boost engine performance.

• Exceptional CAD design streamlines airflow (laminar flow) and reduces turbulence, allowing the engine to ingest more air, increasing horsepower.

• OEM-grade polymer remains unaffected by under-hood temperatures.

• Simple to install, all OEM engine management sensors and vacuum lines remain in place.

• Filter is manufactured with premium cotton gauze to maximize airflow and filtration.

• 15+ HP gain over factory intake in real world driving conditions.

Please feel free pm/email, or call the shop with any questions you might have. We are taking orders for these systems and plan to be able to ship to your door within 7-10 days.

Did you data log IAT's? I know some other CAI's have problems with heat soak.
Price? You mention "bang for the buck" but not how many bucks we are talking here.
Did you data log AFR? Will this intake work with a stock tune, if so what will the change be to the AFR?
Is the filter wet or dry?
Do you have dyno results for an otherwise stock car, and one with a tune?
Is that MAF housing diameter changed?

No answers on any of this?

I called twice, once I asked these same questions and the guy knew nothing and said he would call me back.

Second time I called I was put on hold immediately, after 5 minutes of waiting I hung up.

Not impressed with the level of customer service so far...

give them a chance to respond here. They may still be compiling the data for a press release. Remember they have their specialist working on this intake specifically. Maybe he was not available when you called? Trust me they will release a great product with the proof in the pudding for info and results. Just look at how well the catch can system is setup..

I asked the questions on here a week and a half ago....

If they are ready to take orders (as stated above) they should at least be able to tell me the price.

Fair point. I missed the part about them being ready to take orders at the end of their post.

Pick up the phone and call them and ask for Ted or Levi. Maybe they're not ready to make the price public just yet.

Beautiful, clean design. The MAF is right up on the throttle body. I imagine that would require a tune.

The intakes are ready and available for purchase. Any technical questions can be answered by the design engineer. Ask for Layton at 713-614-0957. Dyno charts are available also.

The kit sells for $599 and is complete with intake, filter, MAF extension cable, vacuum hose, clamps and complete simple instructions. You can also call LMR for info and purchase.

We are having issues with our website at the moment trying to add the intake kit to it so bare with us.

Thanks for your patience.
