Rear hatch interior lights

Rear hatch interior lights
Want to know if anyone knows how to get rear hatch lights to turn back on. Was installing led lights and touch the wires by mistake and now they do not work. Checked all fuses and none are blown and manual does not say which fuse is for that area and dealer has no clue either wants it brought in to see if they can get them to work again. Everything else in the car works fine.

LEDs are polarity sensitive. (Incandescent bulbs are not). Did you try reversing the wires or remove bulb and plug in the opposite way?

I took the LEDs and tested them first direct to the bulb plug and they both worked fine. Then in perminately hooking in the wires in line I accidentally touched the wires together and they sparked and I lost power. Checked all fuses in both panels and none are blown.

Anyone ever solve this problem I did the same thing tonight and cannot figure out why the lights won't turn on? I have reverse fitted them on both bulbs and I have nothing.

If CANBUS is monitoring the current draw then it may have shut off the LED because of its much lower current draw and it assumes the bulb is missing or has an open filament. If the regular bulb works you may need a LED with an additional parallel load resistor to more closely mimic the draw of a standard incandescent bulb. It is also possible that the LED does draw enough current normally when it is installed in the proper direction (correct polarity). You may need to reinstall the regular bulb then with the light off re-install the LED and see if it works. IF not carefully note the orientation, remove it, replace the original bulb temporarily, and then with the light off now install the LED with the opposite orientation and see if this will cure the issue.
CANBUS controlled lights can create odd behavior when replacing with something besides what it expects.

Also try removing the battery cable for 20 mins to see if it may reset.
While this doesn't help you, when I replaced mine with LEDs I removed the battery cable based on other threads I read to ensure not to create a short. Posting this for future dudes doing this.

I think it's the LED bulbs themselves. They seem to be so wide that they are touching in places they should not. Thanks for everyone input, I'm getting some different LED's and will see how that works. License plate bulbs fired right up maybe that bulb will work in the hatch area too?

Don't panic. Same thing happened to me. I went nuts trying to find the blown fuse. The rear fuse compartment is a real b1tch to get at (thanks GM), but you will NOT find any blown fuses. As the others posters said, the computer controls it and see something it does not expect and shuts it off.
I shut the rear hatch, walked away for about 30 minutes and when I came back they were working perfectly.
Get the new LEDs that you can plug in any orientation. I think they were like $1 each on Amazon when you buy a package of 10 and share them with your friends.

I got mine from Vette-Lights.com. Cole is very helpful. T10 (as Rooster OG said) is the light bulb I believe.
