Default 18" strip/street tire

Been looking around not much luck for an answer but I will be throwing some c5z rears on my car or something of that nature so 18x10.5. I am curious if the new mickey thompsons et street r would work, I have a feeling the answer is no they're too tall, 29x12.5x18....If they're too tall what's my other options? Maybe a regular et street radial 27x12.5x18? Or is there something better that gets good mileage. Once I figure out this CEL and reverse lockout after every burnout I should be good to go for some tires.

Thanks

I think you're on the right track, 29 is too tall but the 27 inch tall tires should be fine.

I am a huge ET Street fan, I would say if you want the best street strip tire as far as traction that is the one to go with. If longevity is your primary concern, maybe pick a Nitto.

Most people who put different smaller wheels on their car really just use them for racing, so longevity isn't #1, traction is. And for that the ET Street is excellent.

Here is your answer...

These are stickier than the ET Street Radial in my opinion.

Only thing with longevity is the track if I go is about a hour out. I liked the 275 mickeys I had on 17s before but I did wish I could launch harder, most I raced were on 15s with sidewall, but i probably wouldn't have any longevity if I got something that hooked better I suppose. I was looking at these rims they're cheap. Wish we could run 17s... http://www.oewheelsllc.com/Wheels_3/Wheels-for-Pontiac_3/18-Fits-Chevrolet-Corvette-Stingray-Wheel-Matte-Black-18x10-5#.VW9w3uko7qD

They have 17" 19" different sizes amongst those all colors c7z rims too. Here's a 19x10 http://www.oewheelsllc.com/Wheels_3/...0#.VW_fG1Jo_j4

The zr1 or c7z rims look awesome, but I just don't wanna spend the money on them right now. I wish I knew about this website when I had my c5z.

Did you notice the fitment tab says they only fit 2005-2013 Corvettes? I wonder if that just needs updated or if they really don't fit on a C7....

You must have clearance at the back side of ID of the wheel. Some are to close for comfort.

i have some Forgeline 18x11 wheels with Mickey Thompson 305 drag radials and Forgeline 18x5 (or 6?) skinnies with front runners I would sell.

The fronts have about 4 passes and the rears have 0 passes, 0 burnouts, etc.

PM me if you are interested. Please note, this is not a "budget solution" but it will be a much better deal than new.

Only selling because my track closed and it looks like I won't use them for at least a year, which is dumb.

I'm also looking for something to go along with C5Z rims and considering the ET Street R P305/45R18. I Would personally like a taller tire since I'm mainly interested in getting more out of 4th gear in the 1/2 mile.

How do you plan on fitting a 29" tire tho? I am eyeballing the et street s/s 345/35/18...unsure about that wide on a 10.5" rim but it's like $60 cheaper than a damn 305/40/18. For the c5z c7 z51 replica rims I posted all bolt pattern is the same, so offset is 56mm on those, c7 is 72? so it'll stick out further correct? These are 7.9 backspacing c7 is 8.6 but these are .5" wider too. I feel like they would fit fine it's pretty close to a c5z rim.

If there's a way to fit 29" tall tires i'd gladly go et street r. But since 28 is the limit im considering 345/35/18 on a 10.5" rim. I think i'll go the cheap route for rims for now since i'll probably beat them up swapping back and forth until I decide drag car or not.

Just for my education, what prevents using a 29" tire? The only other thing that I see that may fit better is a Nitto NT555R that is 305/40/18.

From what I understand it rubs. I'm hoping I can get the et street s/s 345/35/18 on a 10.5 rim. If not then their 305/40/18. I hear mickeys hook better and nittos too.

mickey thompsons hook the best (probably hoosier, too) buying a nitto or bfg to hook is a waste of time completely. those are for driving around on the street and saying you have a drag radial.

Mickey Thompson ET Street II's in 305/35/18. Same overall diameter as stock 20" wheels. The trick is finding a set of 18x10 rear wheels with the right offset that don't look awful like the c5z wheels do IMO. There are options out there, but generally speaking all are quite expensive. No $150 wheel options lol

I fully intend on trying those cheap ones lol. If they fit correctly awesome, which they're same as c5z, if not lesson learned. I've put 2500 miles on my car in like two weeks so I rather not daily a radial lol. And I'm very curious to try the et street s/s. 345 should work on a 10.5 rim.
