Default I thought Hawk pads (counterweights) might be trouble

NOPE! they clear factory 19's easy, and CCW 18's and Forgelines 18's also. rears did not show up yet so i put on fronts only(hawk streetrace) they are light years better than factory z51 pads, ever sence i put SS lines on my z51 car my pedal has been low and soft( i blead lines 3 times and still same) my pedal is now high and hard and the car stops much shorter, i did not bedd them in yet, if they get any better after that i will be going threw the windshield, not kidding. here is a picture with factory 19 and inside the yellow CCW's 18x10

Wow- I can see why you had concerns- that is a lot hanging out. Might act as a heat sink and get rid of some pad heat too.

Good to here they stopping better- I just ordered a set from site vender but rear on backorder- hope to ship next week.

So my stupid question- what exactly do counter weights do? I assume some type of vibration dampening? Hawk does not say anything about counter weights

I installed aftermarket pads also but painted the silver round area
(counterweight) satin black. It almost disappears now when you look at it.

The stock pads have them also but much smaller.

SO these goofy things are all about noise abatement - right ??

They look like something that every non-car person is going to ask about, and then roll their eyes when you explain what they're for !!

That is when you reply with
"I don't know all the engineering behind it, but it definitely improves braking performance, plus it looks cool"

I was gonna say that they're actually breath mints to feed the alligators when I miss my braking point at the end of the straight at Palm Beach Int'l Raceway, and end up in the drink !!!

Thanks I called her- had to leave a VM but will try again. YES their website is horrific- you would think they would be able to keep current and update with product info.

My sense is these are the wrong pads I recieved

Correct- I did the same and noticed Corvette not on the list- it is sort of a generic Brembo pad. I bought form a forum vender so a bit surprised not correct but am sure we can get it sorted out.

Have a track wknd on 24-26 July and need to get the brakes right.

Get notified of new replies

Talked with vender- the backing plate identical- 453's have been used on Z51 just fine. Do not have the "roller skates" but does not affect stopping performance.

How about a part # for the rears that go with your fronts for a 2015 z51? There is not much I can do about my rears for this weekend but I also have a event the 26tj that I would like matching compounds for! Thanks

I don't know the part #. I got from KNS Brake and their site just says "C7 Z51" application. They do not carry the "roller skate" pads at all just the version w/o tabs. I've been emailing w/ Nick I will ask Cat # for matching rear pads- I expect my rears to ship next week.
