How can you tell if there's enough engine oil in a 2015 Z51?

How can you tell if there's enough engine oil in a 2015 Z51?
HELP!
Took the car to the dealership for an oil change. Per the manual, when I returned hom, waited 10 minutes and checked the engine oil. It was over the highest level on the dip stick.
After 45 minutes, the oil settled within range. Although the service advisor stated they put in 9.7 qts, how can I make sure this is the case? It's evident if I follow the manual instructions, there is too much engine oil.
Can anyone else clarify when I should check it and when I would know if it's too much or too little?
Thanks.

9.7 is too much. I had dealer put 9 and give me 10th quart to take home. Then I filled about 1/3 of that. So mine takes about 9.33
I check mine after car is at normal operating temp turn off engine. Wait 10 min then check. Mine is slightly above middle of min/max range

This is the recipe. I put 9 in mine and it's just to the bottom of the "hot" hashes when the car is warm. I added about .25 quart to get it up just under half way up the hashes. 9.7 is too much IMO. I wouldn't ever go over 9.5.

I just had my chged in the car. They told me 9.3 qts. But after I got home and let it cool down it was down below the bottom mark.

I think 9.3 puts it at 1/3 up the hash mark on the dip stick.
I would not go any more than that. Even my Z06 came filled to that point and the first dealer change went to the same spot. it is still there same place 4500 miles later.

You figure GM would revise that by now...

I put 9 in mine it took it to the bottom of the hash marks after checking it a few times I decided to take it up to into the middle by adding 1/2 quart.

I had the 500 mile change done and the level ended up right at the top of the hash mark when hot. 2000 miles later the level hasn't moved and the throttle body is dry.

9.8qts is the correct amount if ALL the oil is drained properly. I mean ALL. It's easy, especially for a dealership, to leave 1/2 quart in the car. Then 9.8 overfills.
The amounts talked about that are less than 9.8 are spawned from the C7 forums...but the spec is correct.
I've done 2 oil changes myself on my Z51s, drained the oil carefully (the sump lines are the main culprit), and 9.3qts put me 1/3 up the hash marks (hot) each time. This is where I leave it.
So yes, 9.8qts is the correct spec. But as others have stated, at a dealership, request 9qts go in, and take the 10th home to trim it up.

I took my car back to the dealer last night. The guy told me let the car run for 2 full min's then turn off let set for 5 min's then check it. Mine was all most to the top of the full mark with what the guy said 9.3 on the oil chg they did about 2 weeks ago.

With my oil fill 9.5, if you check the engine cold, you won't see anything on the stick.
It's scary for a guy like myself because I always check the oil cold, because my car can stand for a week or two without being touched.
Engine hot, it's right where I want it, in the middle of the hash marks.
