Premature engine oil change reminder

Premature engine oil change reminder
Can anyone advise as to the average mileage the reminder should show the need for a oil change. had my reminder come on in my 14 C7 at 600 miles. I talked to the service dept and they could not give an explanation as to why it would show the need for a change at this mileage. The car is 10 months old and I thought the major factors were mileage ,heat and engine revolutions . I was wondering if anyone else ever had this happen. I am concerned that there is an issue that the oil life will drop quickly again causing this reminder to come on or is there an issue with this that someone is aware of. Thank you.

If it is approaching a year since it came off the assembly line, which is probable, then it is giving the proper indication since a one year change is called for regardless of operating hours/conditions. Older version of the GM OLM system noted that a once a year change was necessary regardless of OLM reading since the older system didn't track total time since the last change but the newer version does.

premature oil change indicator
Thank you all for the input you have all answered the questions I had asked the service tech. He just could not answer them . I appreciate all of your input.

When my '15 is on the lift all winter, the oil life decreases 5% per month just sitting there.

If the car is truly not driven, the one year limit may be a little premature. But for a car that's driven, then stored for a long time, the oil gets moisture accumulation, acid build-up, and other contaminants from being driven, and shouldn't sit in the car for more than a year.
In the case of the OP's car, it might be 10 months that he's owned it, plus additional time between the build date and when he bought it, getting it even closer to a year. I can't help but wonder why someone has a Stingray and only drives it 600 miles in 10 months.

HOX, I wouldn't know what to expect on a new one, just what I see on mine when it sits over the winter months. I have driven the car on a regular basis this spring and summer, 2,450 miles since the last change and the oil life is sitting at 64%, more or less what I would expect.

I checked mine a few days ago I changed my oil late last year maybe a month before I put it away.
Mine was at 27% I barely have 1300 miles on the cars oil, 3300 on the car.
I drop my oil at 3000, so I reset the meter to 100% and made a note on the set back it will be changed when I get to 3000 miles.
