M7 is faster from anything but a dead hook launch. A8 can get out of the hole faster but that's it. of course, if you are a terrible shifter/bad driver, then anything can happen.

Team Owner
The 1/4 mile is highly dependent on your 60ft time.
A8 wins the standing start 1/4 mile. But when you put the cars side by side in a rolling start. The A8 loses the low first advantage.
The M7 then has the closer ratio's and less drive loss (ie. more power to the ground. The M7 should win the rolling race from 40-50 mph contests provided a good driver is behind the wheel.
Putting that aside the M7 esp teamed with a MGW is a great driving experience.

The A8 has a quicker 0-60 time and wins the 1/4 mile drag race compared to the manual trans---
As far as drivetrain loss vs the A8 and the manual trans---They are now Equal---No advantage in drivetrain los as before from a manual trans---
I think you have to be an extremely experienced driver of a manual trans even to win in a rolling start race-----This makes a lot of manual trans drivers pissed as now an in experienced driver with an auto trans can let the computer drive the car and be quick and the manual trans driver has to shift "perfectly" in order just to be equal !!!
Quickest STOCK Corvette ever is now the 2015 Z06 A8 automatic at 2.9

Melting Slicks
A8 is slightly faster in a roll race and has i big advantage from a stop.
0-60 M7 3.9 seconds
0-60 A8 3.7 seconds
All you have to do is check out the fast list. All of the cars in the top 10 are autos.

If it takes a good driver to beat an auto C7 in a C6Z, it's gonna take a great driver to keep up in the M7.
Link to that thread? I looked but couldn't find it.

All these races from 40 to 100 --30 to 150--- 40-150 are simply sour grapes by a manual trans owner to try and find some extremely odd way for a manual trans now to beat an A8-----Truth is when most guys race it's rarely even a 1/4 mile and then if they do go a 1/4 mile an A8 Z06 still wins-----Who races to 150 MPH ?? no one unless they are at a closed airport---------Technology has changed either accept it or fall behind--
