B E R quest for 500whp with bolt ons
#41
I use hp tuners
You can run unleaded race fuel as long as you know the stoich value and you set up the timing table correctly
I helped a member on here with his e85 tune on his bolt on car and he pulled 480rwhp and 485rwtq
Been 1.99 here for months. Going to dilute my e85 with 93 though when I install the Vortech Ti

I still can't for the life of me figure out why everyone mentions the price of E85 when I ask about a tune for high octane gasoline.
Everyone knows the price. What everyone doesn't (apparently) know is that E85 stations aren't all that common. The closest one to me is like 20+ miles away. I just can't drive 40+ miles every time I need gas.
I can buy cans of Torco and keep one in my trunk and basically have 101 octane at any pump for $4.50ish/gal. I'm also apparently one of the rare people who doesn't mind flashing a new tune when I want to race vs street driving on 93 octane.
I'll keep looking...

Not sure on tires. I have to do some research on the smallest wheel that will fit on the rear with base brakes. I was going to upgrade to Z51 brakes but now think I will stay with the base so I can get a smaller rear on the car.

18s with stock like offset. can't go smaller unless you get LG drag spindles.

E85 is hygroscopic and I really don't have the inclination to store it, metal sealed containers etc. I'm curious if there are any long term side effects to running E85 in a non flex fuel car as well. Any vacuum line or PCV line problems? I've also heard that you need to change your oil more often.

I think the issues are overblown. Lots of people talk about it, no one posts pics.

FYI, the rear calipers and rotors are EXACTLY the same size between the base and Z51. The only difference is caliper color, and the rotors are either slotted or not. So, might as well upgrade to Z51 brakes for the front at least!

I don't have a true baseline since the first time it was put on a dyno it had a ported intake manifold and CAI.
Yes it is an M7 and here are the mods:
Texas Speed Longtubes - no cats
Formato ported intake manifold
aFe CAI
VMax ported throttle body
DSteck flex fuel conversion kit
160* thermostat
I'll look for the dyno sheet and see about getting in scanned in. In the AFR reading you can see where it could be leaned out slightly in the mid range.

He's probably talking about my car since he helped me with my tune after it was tuned incorrectly by another tuner. I think there is more left in the tune as it's currently only running off the MAF values. T/A assisted in correcting the cluster of the tune I had in the car. Since then, I've added a dedicated wideband and received some insight on what to do to optimize the tune (from Higgs) but haven't had a chance to take the time to dial it in and get it on a dyno again. I certainly think close to 500 is feasible on an M7.

Not at the track yet. When I first got it back and it was still cool out I took it to the track and on the way I got stuck in traffic and it kept overheating. That's when I started digging into the tune and realized I had some serious issues going on with it.
I may take it next Friday. I'll be on the stock tires and am a complete novice with a manual at the track so I anticipate my 60' times sucking bad. At least trap speed should still give an indication of what it's capable.

I'm still waiting to see an NA E85 C7 timeslip
