Adding an intake also helps the headers gains. More in more out!
Intake is minimal on the C7 .

This engine responds better to mods than the LS motors did, you just have to find a tuner that understands how to take advantage of the extra airflow with the new torque based computer.

My car picked up about .3 in the 1/4 and 3-4 mph with CAI and mid length headers and my tune isn't even close to being done.

I have read the design of the C7 exhaust is better on the LT1 vs the LS3 but I'd still expect 25+ with just headers and a tune.

It is the best sounding car I've ever heard. I thought my old C6 Z-06 sounded good... These C7's with headers sound amazing. I couldn't care less if they didn't an a single horsepower, buuuuut that's the bonus, they do.

Hold up...are u suuuurre..the lt sounds better than c6 z and c6s point blank with headers???????? Thats a pretty bold statement...a c6 with headers and npp or borla stingers or corsa sound amazing!!! Its kinda hard to that....i goottttttta hear this!!!!

I'm telling ya man... These cars sound unreal with headers. I thought it sounded pretty good until I got my new headers installed, it sounds better than ANY car I've ever heard now. Of coarse I do make 700rwhp so maybe that's the difference? 😁

Imagine the wail of an exotic at full throttle, coupled with the thunder of American muscle... That's a C7 with headers. The bonus is the added power they provide. It's a lil slice of Heaven for a car guy/girl.

Back on the original topic....
So... What are the likely gains from various types of headers only? Middies? Middies with catless X-pipe? Long tubes and mid-pipe? Catted vs Catless?
Once installed, how much more HP can one expect with a quality tune?

Better to test full power with a tune.
Install headers and tune for them.
Test full power again with header and tune combo.
Then you can see the true gain from headers.
Slapping on a set of headers (or an intake or anything else that alters airflow) and doing a dyno pull is not smart if you haven't tuned for them.

I had headers installed w/ a catted X pipe and then custom tuned. I already had a CAI installed for my base run. So those mods on a 110 degree day gave me about 68 WHEEL HP and about 55 WHEEL TQ. The engine spins up much faster and smoother. Trust me, the gains are significant and the sound is awesome as others mentioned. It has a bit more of a deep sound at low RPM I did not have on the LS3 motor and can be loud, when you put your foot in it, it is really loud. Louder than the C6 was w/ same mods. I have the NPP exhaust currently.

450ish sounds about right with the headers/tune, your before dyno of 38x sounds very low....

You should not test full power without a tune in the first place.....

I have headers and tunes in all my vehicles other than my 15' Vette.
Trying to decide if headers, tune and perhaps more are worth the cost as well as voiding my warranty.
I believe that is what the founder of this thread was also asking. Personally I could care less about sound, or whether one kind of header or axle-back exhaust sounds better than another. I don't make my performance or spending decisions based on "Sound Fluff".
I prefer results...
I also prefer not to be embarassed!

Eco, if you are asking if more airflow is worth it, yes, of course! ;-)
