Ok to use Hawk Street / Track pads only on front?
Have 2015 A8 Stingray non z51. Going to add z51 sway bars. Thinking of using for 1-3x a year hpde. Ok to upgrade brake fluid and to run new Hawk street / track pads only on front and run stock pads on back? Ger.

I would not mix and match brake manufactures. Hawk pad is dusty and corrosive. I would either keep the stock pads and get some take of Z51 pads or go to the Carbotech 1521 pad and if you go to the track get a set of Carbotech XP series pad for the track. All Carbotech compounds are compatible with each other so all you would need to do is swap pads and go no rebidding nothing just put them on the same rotor and go. If interested in the Carbotech pad let me know I will be happy to help you.

When I was at Spring Mountain, when the discussion of brake pads came up, they mentioned that they only run Hawk pads on all their cars. They spoke very highly of the performance on the track. Would seem like they know something about running lots of track miles and high temps in all types of hard track conditions. I also made the change from stock pads to Hawk pads for HPDE track days with great results. I guess your mileage may vary. But as stated, I wouldn't mix and match. If you are going to use any pad, you should put the same all around.

I'm sure they do get them for free or heavily discounted, but this doesn't make them a bad product does it? They are installing them on hundreds of cars and track them exclusively. I've not heard of anyone complaining about bad brakes at Spring Mountain. Have you?

Very good point!! I have been using Hawk pads and highly recommend them to friends. I use the new high performance Street 5.0 Pads for aggressive mountain driving. The new Ferro-Carbon compound pads have much less wear on rotor's with ought the loss of performance.

Run the 5.0's in front with the stock pads in rear, I ran the streetrace ones up front with stock pads in rear until the streetrace rears came off back order. Streetrace will eat your rotors alive, factory rotors are soft, 5.0 are the ones I will be running front and back this season. Long story, but I have tons of time/cash in testing. And yes I have received free pads from hawk for my write ups and trouble.
These and AP's must me used with streetrace pads
All hawk pads come with or without rollar skates , get them without.
This is a z51 rotor ( soft) with streetrace pads, stock rotors can only tame 5.0's(hawk)
