Default Small meth leak

Hey guys. Any of you running meth have issues with the factory level sensor leaking at the grommet? Mine started this all the sudden. Been on the car 6 months. Draining it now then gonna pull that sensor out and have a look at the grommet. Wonder if the meth has damaged it?

second picture the sensor doesn't look like its all the way in so to speak? whats in the tank on the other side of that grommet? does it snap into something or does the sensor just "push" into the grommet? if it just pushes in then you need a new grommet to make the fit tighter I would guess? paul

The sensor actually goes through the grommet. Here is a look with the sensor out and the shape the grommets in. I'm gonna replace the grommet tomorrow probably. Maybe the entire sensor. I though about siliconing it actually but I think I'll try a new grommet first.

^^^ replace the piece, don't put nothing to seal it at all the meth will eat thur it really fast. Plus the meth will do the same to about the other parts also. That is why you should have the pump redone after a good two years.

The meth just eats stuff thur & also just rust about anything it stays intouch with.

Wonder if there is a better grommet that would be better for meth?

The grommet is fine, just replace it. Windshield washer fluid actually has a high concentration of meth in it to keep from freezing. Some as high as 80% meth. Meth eats all that stuff over time though.

silicon isnt meth resistant at all. It will degrade very quickly. There are some epoxies that are meth resistant though.

Yea I'm gonna go back with a replacement grommet. I run 100% meth so it's defiantly taking more a beating than washer fluid. All good though, just surprises me it already started leaking after about 6 months.

Mine is leaking at the pump, and I just installed mine in june. Meth kits can be problematic.

Meth in washer fluid??? That would mean your paint job would be gone. You sure about that?

C7&7 how did you know it was leaking?

Meth isn't going to take the paint off your car instantly, and it's not going to hurt it as rare as people use the washer fluid. It's the solvent used in washer fluid to keep it from freezing. In fact, many people run washer fluid in the meth injection kits since it's very readily available. You also get the added cooling properties of water from it. The meth ratio is dependent on the temperature rating, obviously the colder the temp, the more meth.

Much better looking piece right here. Part# 23484882 for just the grommet. $3 part:

My tuner must have disconnected my washer reservoir line as I can't use my washers. I have a new tank/pump but can't find a good place to mount it in my Z51. I know non Z51 owners have room where the dry sump reservoir would be.

I typically don't need washers but it would be nice to get them back.

Didnt ECS do yours? If so I'm sure they used your washer reservoir and put the meth pump right by it.?? You shouldn't have an external tank with an alky kit.

Yes. They used my windshield reservoir for the Meth. I never intended to use 100% Method for window cleaning but I forgot once and put them on but nothing came out and I didn't hear the pump running. I just assumed ECS disconnected it. Not a big deal as my car is not driven daily.

The new grommet resolved the issue. Let it sit for a couple days with a full tank of meth just to be sure, and put it back together last night. We'll see how long the new grommet holds up.

MY ADVICE TO ALL METH USERS:

Put a couple drops of blue food coloring in whatever container you use to fill your car. That way if it leaks you see it!

I would pick a different color honestly. Like red or purple. I still get my oil changed at the dealer and if I tinted my 100% meth blue there would be no way of knowing if the tech obeyed my "do not fill washer fluid" note since washer fluid is most commonly blue.
