C7 Key Fob reprogramming
I lost a key fob on my 2016 Z51 so I had to purchase one yesterday from the dealership. The reprogramming looked to be pretty simple in the manual so I figured I could do it myself. Well not to be.
I followed the directions, inserted the key and opened the trunk and turned the key 5 times. Got back in the car and the DIC showed it was ready to program fob #3. I put the new fob in the steering column slot and pushed the start/stop button but the car didn't start. Now neither fob works. I tried reprogramming the car like I had no working fob to no avail. Any ideas???

Try these instructions and do the "Long" format. Take note of the stuff in red.

Something as small as failing to "Push the Unlock button" can be screwing you up.

I had a similar problem. Turned out the new FOB I got was the wrong one. There are many fobs for these cars and they look similar with the same number of buttons, etc. But the part numbers are different. Once I got the one with the right part number, programming worked first time.

I lost the fob to my 2015 C7 and had the dealer "clone" the new fob using my spare.
I won't quote any prices, but it STILL hurts to sit down.
So please do yourselves an expensive favor.
Don't lose your f-ing fob.

First off, thanks for the detailed reprogramming instructions. Very helpful.
One of my original fobs quit working.
I changed the battery. No luck.
Tried to program it and no luck again. I get to the step that says "Ready for remote #3". I insert the non working remote and nothing happens. I've done this at least 5 times.
Changed the battery again. Tested it. All good.
So then I test the steering column slot according to your instructions and I do not get "Known Remote".
Now what?
Any ideas?
Thanks

Fob #3+ vs FOB"s #1 and #2...
Just in case there is any C7 owner newer than me - i was going crazy why the seat memory buttons weren't working...
Turns out that i was given two keys by selling dealer - and they were recognized as FOB #2 and FOB #3.
Guess what - the car memory system only looks for and responds to FOB #1 and FOB #2.
I guess i may not have researched enough how to wipe them all and re-initalize as FOB #1 and #2 - i was at dealer anyway (Hate dealers, but still warrranty) - and had them reprogram.
SO - while you are reassigning your FOB's - do consider the pure bliss of having your FOB's recognized by your car as #1 and #2....
