Default Matt Stidham's C7 Build Thread: From stock LT1 to LME 416 Stroker

I figured you guys would be interested in this build and the progression over the last couple years since it was stock, and we're just about to receive our LME 416 for it.
This build started out in March/April 2014 when our friend Matt broke up with his Fiance.... needless to say he was pretty bummed out until he drove by a local dealership and saw this Stingray in the showroom. He bought the car on the spot with about 500 miles on it!

Matt's the kind of guy that can't leave anything alone so within a week we were on the phone with A&A for a SC kit. We got one of the first ones and it was installed before the car even had 1,000 miles on it!!

We started off pretty conservative, only running 6 psi
...which turned to 8 psi
....and then turned to 11 psi
.....and then turned to 12.5 psi

Below is the pictures of the original install back in 2014 and some of the custom mods along the way. The build has evolved over the years and it's taken a big move forward over the last few months.

At this point, the engine and drivetrain is out, and we're waiting on delivery from LME on the 416 which should be here any day. I figured this project is forum-worthy and you guys would wanna see it!

I'll try to dig up the dyno sheets from the different stages of the build, and some pics of the custom Air/Water intercooler that we built last year among some other things.

Below are pictures from installing the A&A SC Kit which was pretty nice, it required trimming the underplastic for the IC duct, and the passenger side intercooler tube required some re-work but in their defense it was early 2014 and they were the first to market!

The plan for fueling was the Motec M1 package that was supposed to be available Q1 of this year but they're behind and now there's no ETA. For the time being, we're going to run to the limit of the stock fuel system and use a dedicated wet nitrous kit to fill in the gaps until the M1 package is available hopefully later this year.

3 weeks until Coalinga Shift-S3ctor!.... LOTS to do!!

Engine is here from LME, it's going in today, I'll post pics along the way over the next few weeks.

Got goodies coming from Nitrous Outlet, among others. And we have another car without an engine that we need to finish as well.

The UNtec Performance C7 Stingray MT trans brace is complete and begins shipping this week as well! We used this car for mock-up and test-fitment, I included a couple pics of the 3d scan and the final product; I thought you guys would wanna see it!

We're making progress, got the RPS Carbon/Carbon triple-disc installed and the engine is attached to the drivetrain. Here are some pics from earlier this week:

Got it fired on Friday, and we should have it on the dyno mid week.
Jacob got some video, I'll post it when I get it from him.

Couple pics from this last weekend. We ended up making 859 WHP at 15 psi on the blower. In the next couple weeks we'll get it back on the dyno and push it a little harder. The car was on 19" C6 Z06 wheels and NT05R rubber, felt like it was on ice skates in first and second.
Eventually we realized that we needed to get out of first and second quickly since third, fourth and fifth hooked no problem. We ended up with a best MPH of 174.96 MPH in the standing 1/2 mile and we're expecting 180's next time out, just gotta get some tire underneath it.

I'll post more as the build develops. Thanks.

Thanks, it's a work in progress. We're learning a lot about the DI on these cars. It doesn't like an injector pulse-width longer than 10mS. LT4 injectors are next.

Over 6ms and you are puddling fuel in the cylinder.

Probably around there yeah, depending on RPM and start of injection angle.

The bobble happened as we approached 10mS around 5300 RPM, but was consistently smooth at 9.7-9.8mS.

I also have a 416 with a blower so just letting you know what I have found.

Looks like a very nice build!

The build is a work in progress, there's a LOT more in it but ditching the 19's is the first order of business. In the meantime, here's a couple pics from Shift-Sector.

This car's using an inline Walbro 255 with a regulator on a separate fuel system for the nitrous, and an LT4 HPFP and a faster lobe on the cam for the fuel system. The injectors are still LT1 but we're going to put LT4 pretty soon. The LPFP is still stock as well as the stock in-tank pressure relief.

What are the rest of you guys doing for BIGGG power C7 fuel systems?
I know everyone's gonna say meth, but what about your fuel delivery to the DI? I'd like to get a good discussion going about that.

There are no alternatives right now. The lt4 injectors and hpfp provide a pretty minor increase in fuel capacity. Injector Dynamics, here's another call for some big fat blueprinted GM DI injectors!

Keep in mind you need double the size DI injector vs port so the 140 LT4 are basically 70 lb port injectors.....way too small, and out of the question for boost and ethanol.

I know this post has aged quite a bit, but curious what the power numbers were with the TI head unit and LT4 HPFP & Injectors. I am thinking about going with a 416 myself on my upcoming build.
