2016 Z51, first Corvette
Traded in my '16 GT-R (too much $$) for a manual '16 z51 stingray.
I've got to say that it is (as might be expected) a dramatic overall
downgrade.
Beggars can't be choosers but I expected a little more from the
lighter chassis and huge torque in the car but it feels so
comparatively slow in situations where the GT-R excelled
that it is hard to take.
OTOH the vette feels more responsive, not numb (huge GT-R failing)
and is definitely a drivers car which was what decided me during the
test drive that I could do the switch.
Any advice on getting more GT-R like punch from 0-60 out of the
stock z51 without breaking the bank or voiding warranty?

Without breaking the bank? Yes. Without voiding the warranty? No. Take the car to a HPDE and you will care way less about 0-60 pulls. With the GT-R being all wheel drive it's going to be hard to duplicate that feel in a vette.

Even better, call Ron Fellows school at Spring Mountain and sign up for their excellent 2 day corvette owners school. You drive their cars set up basically the same as you have, and learn a lot about the car and how to drive it best. It'll be real different than what you are used to, but I think you'll find it to be even more fun.

Driven at the track plenty of times (last time a mclaren 650s) and the corvette is a better track car than the GT-R overall. Hell, it's a better looking car too.
All that being said it's acceleration is less than hoped for.
Maybe trade up for a z06 is the best route?

You were expecting a 460 hp 2WD car to accelerate the same as a 545 hp AWD car?

There are a lot of nannies controlling a lot of the engine functions on the new C7s. My friend's 15 bone stock GTR ran 10.94@120+ in the 1/4mile.
So not only the z51 is 100 hp down, it's N/A, manual, rwd, and the gearing isn't anywhere near as aggressive as the GTR. The closest thing gearing wise would be the auto A8 with the 2.73 and that's still not even close.

There is a rather evident delay (due to the drive by wire throttle control), which I solved with a combination of the diablosport itune and a sprint booster. Your comparisons are all over the board though (a AWD turbo car a mid engine) which the C7 is neither. I have owned a lot of cars (way more than the average 20 people in a lifetime) and all have different characteristics (none perfect) which take time to get used to. some good advise here, and I have said this many times on many forums, the fact is most drivers spend more time upgrading the machine than the operator.

Both the 370z and e46 M3 run about 13.0 at 110 in the 1/4 with a very good driver.
The C7 runs 12.0 at 115-118 in the 1/4 for a manual. (auto is ~11.5 at 120)
The 2009-2011 GTRs run the same 1/4 mile times as C7s.
The 2012-2015 GTRs run about 1/2 second faster.
Unless you car has a serious intake air restriction...

Look, I've had high rpm cars (flat and v6) that accelerate in a way that make me happy.
This car is so **** in acceleration in comparison to a GTR it's not even close. My 370 nismo would track it within 7/10, the M3 a full second.
For ppl who get it (and there a bunch that do) thanks for advice, and I think the z06 is the way (which is 20K more).
TBH I love this vette on the backroads; much better than the GTR which was already pretty good. Drove it this weekend here and it really impressed.

In what world are you doing these comparisons?

This (2016 z51) car will _not_ run a 12.0 quarter.
That's not real world, that's marketing.
I had a 2016 GTR.
I've raced heavily modded GT mustangs in that thing (GT with nitrous)
@ 600 rwhp and won at least as much as I lost. Less then 12 seconds
qm (11.3 in auto).
Also have proof that (GT-R)would stay with a 911 turbo s from a roll.
The goddamn thing (GT-R) is now too expensive.
This corvette is slow in a straight line.
With an inexperienced driver in the vette the 370 or even the m3 wins.
But, even an ******* can beat an m3 or 370z in the GTR.
