Servo noise from under dash?
Hey guys,
Got a customers car that's fully stumped me, just wanted to see if anyone else has run into a similar issue.
C7/A8,
There's a "clicking" type noise coming from under the dash when turning. When you turn right you can hear it on the left side (semi quite). When you turn left you can hear a similar noise (but louder) on the right side, but this only happens turning left when the AC is on (turning right happens all the time).
Not super familiar with the electronic PS systems. Turning right there's ever so slight of a feedback I can feel in the steering wheel. Almost like whatever is making the noise is close enough to the steering shaft to vibrate it, but not like it's coming from the rack directly.
You cannot hear the noise out-side the car, but driving with your head completely under the dash you can hear it plain as day. It really sounds like a servo motor twitching.
Any ideas? And what servo motors would be in the dash?
