Oil filter surprise
Up till today, the dealer had changed the oil on my 2014. Today, I tackled the job myself. A PF64 was installed in the car. I had to drive half way across the city to find that filter. Several sources indicated a PF48 was the needed filter, and did not stock the PF64. Perhaps this has been posted before, but a search did not find anything on it. Just beware to find your filter before you drain the oil - particularly if you live in a smaller town.

Mobil1 filter is M113. I usually use those for my car.

C6 Corvettes took the PF48 filter. It may be another year or two before the stores get updated books with the correct info.

Yes, the Fram orange can and all other Fram filters are crap, except the top rated Fram Ultra synthetic filter. Check em out. They are rated to be among the best of the best. Internal materials are top notch compared to M1 filters and other synthetic filters. Flow rates and filtering media catch the smallest microns and it's 99% efficient. Do some reading up on the bitog site and you will be surprised that the Fram Ultras can go in excess of 20K miles. The hardcore bitog users all run the Fram Ultra and have had awesome results with them. These guys cut open the filters after an oil change and inspect them and so far not many other filters on the market can hold up to a lot of miles between oil change intervals. Do some research before bashing. I used to hate Fram until I started seeing all the guys on bitog raving about the Fram Ultras.

No Frams for me.

Who is comfortable leaving a filter in place for 20k miles when they cost ten bucks?

Check out the new all synthetic media "Boss" Purolator 15,000 mile oil filter, Part# PBL12222.
I had a Blackstone oil analysis done using the OEM oil filter/Mobil 1 which was very good. Than I tried the Purolator "Boss" filter, ran the same amount of miles and had another oil analysis done. The "Boss" analysis was even better! Less wear metals in the sample. Also read the Comment area.
I also tried a "new" oil with the filter which kicked butt in an oil analysis test against many other oils including Mobil 1.
YES, THAT'S RIGHT IT'S QS!

Compared the UPF48R and the UPF64R. Appear to be the same filter with the newer style base gasket found on the PF64 and UPF48R.
On a side not, Purolator invented the oil filter.

Most all synthetics can now meet the dexos spec.
I use Valvoline Synpower along with a WIX filter.
I had problems with AC Delco filters leaking at the gasket, I think because for awhile they made the base plates too thin. I switched to WIX and have never had a problem
