Yikes! Did you run over an IED?

I don't understand why shops don't lay the parts on blankets instead of just leaving them on bare concrete floors.

lol. Good luck getting a shop to spread out blankets everywhere.

Recently posted this pic of my 15 Z51 getting a torque converter replacement. I would like to report that the car is completely different than even when it was brand new. Everything I thought I didn't like about the transmission was all because of the converter! I realize this is not a safety issue, but this should be a recall! Why would GM want so many people riding around with a sub par driving experience? This was done at 24k miles. Should've been done at 0. The transmission is perfect now. All smiles!!

Because GM does have to deal with federal fuel economy requirements and also the product has to be reliable as well.

Shoulda got a manual...

Guess I have great luck. When I had my windshield replaced two weeks ago at my dealership they cover the entire interior to protect it then laid the parts they removed on blankets.

So one would think if a dealer did that just for a windshield they could easily lay a few blankets out and not stack metal parts on expensive wheels.

You're right...It's just to charge you more money for sub par ****. My bad.

It doesn't have to be 50 state emissions legal. Able to be stamped out at a reasonable price to pay absurd union rates. Dead nuts reliable in climates from Alaska to ******* Florida.

Nope...

just a scam to fleece you.

lol

I have no clue what any of that means. GM won't recall a bad part because of fuel economy laws???

This is GM`s first attempt at making a decently fast shifting auto. Turns out it has problems.

The europeans are still the way to go for autos.

Pretty sure I paid enough to cover a good converter. Wouldn't have costed a penny more than the pos it came with.

that's kinda my point though. If everyone had the revised converter, the entire conversation would be different. I'm happy as I could possibly be now. Everyone should have this experience. Transmission is awesome.

Was it defective or did it not just perform the way you like? There's a huge difference...

It was defective. They are known defective. The revised converter fixed the problem. All smiles now. It's not a performance issues, it's a driveability issue.

They're cheap Chinese wheels, but I totally agree. People could do better. I'll request blankets next time. At least on cosmetic items.

Certainly makes the case why all A8 owners need to purchase an extended warranty.

Maybe not because people are having major trans repairs well before warranty is even close to being up. (powertrain)

David, I have merged your two threads together. I'm not sure why your started another thread on the same subject, but now everyone can read your experience from the beginning to it's completion.

Obviously they were wrong. For those who had their convertor or stator replaced and say its fixed, I urge them to drive the car...put some mileage on it. The issue will return, and in my case, a few more symptoms added in for good measure.
P.S. I do not hold my dealer service department responsible, they did a flawless job. But they can only do what GM tells them to do. In this case GM does not have a real fix.

I still wonder if they replaced the entire trans with the new model they put in 2016s, would that solve the problem? Those of you with newer build dated 2016s may not have enough mileage on it to tell for sure. I'll have to see what my lemon law attorney can work out with them. All I know is I am not happy and $65k poorer. So disgusted you have no idea.
I feel your pain. Most HORRIFFIC customer experience ever. GT350 coming up.

Alright. I felt like it was two different subjects originating from the same event. Works for me though! Who knows when completion may be
