Default Tire Advice.....DR's?

I have a 14 C7 Z51 M7 with about 600rwhp. I don't drive it everyday but do like to drive it fairly often. I don't track the car but I never shy away from a little street racing. I still have the stock wheels on the car and it is lowered about an 1". I need to replace my tires so I was looking for advice on possibly running a DR on the back like a toyo r888 285/35ZR20. Is anyone running these on their car with stock wheels? If so what tires are you running up front. Since I don't track the car and will not be switching these tires out I'd like to have the tires match somewhat from front to rear, but at the same time it would be nice not to have to replace the front every 8K miles either. I have aleady read a lot of the threads on running DR's but I didn't find any anwers I was looking for. Any advice will help.

Thanks

My wheels aren't stock, but I run the R888 out back in a 315. Keep in mind the R888 isn't a drag radial and has a stiffer sidewall. If you want a DR you need to be looking at the Mickey Thompson or Nitto NT05R, etc. That said, on the street I'm at 550rwhp now and they hook fantastic. In a couple weeks I'll be over 700 and will report back, but anticipate them to be fine for street use at that power level. They also perform well when caught in the rain which becomes an issue with a tire such as the NT05R.

Thanks for the clarification on the R888's. I'm not really looking for a serious DR but something that will help me hook up when I need to and be ok just driving around or on a trip. Are you running the 315 R888's on a 10" wheel? Just wondering I saw where Toyo recommended a 10.5" wheel for that size. What are you running in the front?

I'm running the 315's on an 11" wheel in the back. I think these would be a bit much on a 10" and would run the 285's. On the front I'm on a 9.5" and run the 265's. I think you'll be pleased with these wheels given the type of driving you'll be doing. Some folks find them noisy when cruising, but I've got a cam and headers with no cats so it doesn't bother me. Even with NPP closed and the car quieted down I don't find really hear the noise.

I know several Porsche guys on the other hand that tried them and it drove them crazy so it's all about your tolerance and what you're looking for. Since yours is more of a toy and not a daily I think you'll be fine.

I am running the toyo R888 but in a aftermarket rim but in a 18 inch rim. Love the way it hooks in the car.

What size are you running bigsapper? Are you using the stock Z51 wheels or aftermarket?

I haven't got there with my Vette.

I had a 2014 Silverado I hot rodded. I ran factory 18" split 5-spoke wheels that I had widened to 9.5". I ran 305/45R18 Nitto 555R on those wheels.

I had about 25-30 drag strip passes on them and about 10k miles daily driving including a full winter in DFW.

Will do a new set of NT01 when it's time because that's what fits the size I have on my base 1LT.

I have a Callaway 627 and 20 X 11 rears with 315 R888. They hook the car a lot better than stock but not quite as good as some drag radials in smaller rim sizes I have used in the past. One thing I will warn you is the R888 is a noisy ******* tire. Sounds like a jeep with mud tires. I am not sure everyone else has this issue but I have read that it is common with the R888.

But still a good tires for a car with lower rwhp. This tire will wk good for a 600 to 650 hp car. Robert

Thanks for the info. Can anyone give me a setup for my stock z51 wheels? I have new wheels planned for the future but for now I just need some new tires and would like to have some that help put the HP I have to the road. Does anyone know if the 285/35/20 will work on my car without rubbing?

I'd like to know this too. Tire rack told me they wouldn't fit. If not, other options for stock wheels?
