What header size, 2" or 1 7/8"?

Some swear that "bigger is not better" and you don't need 2" headers unless you're pushing 800+ RWHP, but I have not seen evidence of 1 7/8" headers producing better results than 2" on a mild setup. There are no drawbacks to performance, so until proven otherwise, go with the 2" setup. That way you don't have to upgrade again down the line.

Cpr
CPR, Cordes Performance Racing, recommended their 2" headers for my stock A8 C7, because they provide more torque across the curve. They recommended a CAI and Tune along with them.

cool... im gonna do the msd atomic intake manifold as well so cai and tune will also happen at the same time. so do the kooks headers install onto the stock exhaust?

Melting Slicks
If you are going to stay N/A, another option is the stepped Super Pro's from LG. 1 3/4 stepped to 1 7/8. Do some research, this works really well on the LT1. I did ported intake and TB, 170 t-stat, and AFE. Runs really well. I had mine coated, highly recommended if you can spend a few extra bucks...

^^^ I did the same here on the LG step down from 1 3/4 to bigger 1 7/8 and I will also be doing a small blower set up on the car this winter.
I will also stay with these same headers on the car. I don't think I will loss per say any hp r tq to the rear wheel that you could tell the diff in.
But if I did with this set up I will gain more in the lower RPM range, then loss some in the higher RPM range.
Now the question is can the 2 inch make up that diff on the very top end of the track. In the 1/8 to me is to short of a distance's, But the 1/4 mile to me will be HOW good of a set up you have with ALL of your parts that are in the car are working together..

we tested all the sizes and the 2'' made more hp/tq everywhere. even at the always debated 2500 rpm.
