Default Is the NPP exhaust resonated?

is the npp exhaust resonated? wondering if doing kooks headers and x pipe would increase volume and how it would sound retaining the npp mufflers.

also is the cat delete worth it on the lt1's? or should I go catted X?

We run cars all the time with headers and x-pipe with the stock rear exhaust. Sounds great in my opinion. Very little chance of that resonator sound you get with aftermarket slip on exhaust.

If you can, leave the cats out. Power will show a much nicer increase.

I went with LG LT headers, 3 inch mid pipe, back cats del, Then put on Borla ATKA cat back mufflers. Not that much of a sounds diff's at all on the car.

If you are looking for a much louder sound you need to cut out the mufflers all together and just have a pipe welded in it place. Then have a set of tips welded on that pipe. Yes I am still NPP with my Borla cat back set up but with all of the above IF I was looking at doing all of this JUST for the sound it was a waste of money if for that reason... Robert

Kooks 1 7/8" Headers, Kooks 3" Offroad X Pipe, and straight pipes out the back.

This will be the loudest it can be.

Even with this it is not all that loud to what you would think it should be..

Oh ok... so you mean muffler delete. Does muffler delete create a lot of drone on these cars?

I have ARH 2 inch with Jethot coating with cats. With the NPP
A nice set-up IMO Plus your dropping some weight off the front.

The stock manifold and cats are heavy and hold a ton of heat right under your hood.
Coated headers hold all most none compared.
The sound really is better, About the same volume but you get tuned sound. Sounds better open or closed. I don't want the smell you can get from no cats. The cats take away very little in power on the AHR their cats are very high flow. The kooks header and cats I had in the past didn't flow as well as the ARH set-up.
Power increase is eye opening with a professional tune.

I strongly recommend the Jethot coating. I tried a different brand of coating and it burned off after a year or two. Where I pulled my Kooks
off that were jethot coated after 2 years and they wiped clean with a rag like new. But it costs 450.00! But so worth it!

Then the cooling properties of the Jethot coating is obvious under your hood is cooler cools quicker and your temps run cooler as well.

A Homerun!

Here's a video demo that I put together of my Kooks 1 7/8" long tube headers + Kooks green catted midpipe + stock NPP mufflers. I have not tuned the car yet and have absolutely no check engine light, if that matters to anyone. I absolutely love the sound. In the video, I have an external mic attached to just below the spoiler. Inside the car, it sounds pretty tame although you can hear it in the first scene...

Fast forward to 4:00 to hear what it sounds like when going near WOT in track mode...
