Default 345/35/18 on Z51

Hello, I have a2015 z51 vert. I will be going major hp over the winter, and need a wider rear tire. My car does not have a wide body conversion. I was wondering if anyone has tried a 335, or 345 18 on the rear of there car. If so what rims did you use and where did you get them from. I know I can get a 315 under it but really need to go wider. Any help would be appreciated

you came to the right place!! I have tested a lot more set ups that I want to think about- I have a 2016 mag ride z51 and the biggest tire I can run is a 335/30/18 a7 Hoosier in the rear ( you must run car in track mode only so rear fender lips don't hit tires when driving hard ) This is on a forgeline 18x11 offset 79 mm
This is on a ccw 18x11 offset. 78mm

You don't need a wider tire, you need a stickier, more narrow and longer tire patch, tire.

(assuming you mean for acceleration, forward bite traction)

well the Mickey Thompson ET street is the stickiest tire I can think of, the wider the more grip I have always found.

so has anyone tried the 345/18 on a z-51? They don't make a 315 /18 Mickey, and I really need wider than a 305

please believe me ! I have tested many different offsets, wheels, ect . On base car , z51 non mag and now z51 mag ride - forget 345's , the 335/30/18 only work on mag ride car in track mode , factory height, --- base or non mag ride z51 you only can get away with 315's - and don't forget you need to stay in the 75mm to 83mm offset range- don't kill the messenger!!!!! I have done the dirty work including busting out my rear inner fender lips with the wrong offset wheels.

Savage. I meant to get with you. My forgelines are actually rubbing my a arm
And digging into the a arms under high load turning on the big tracks. Kinda unfortunate.

The 305 or 315 width tire is honestly going to be your best bet. You can run them without having to worry about ride height or drive mode. Not to mention you can go thicker tires like a 35 or 40 thickness which gives you more sidewall. Just as important as width for drag racing. The 335/30/18 pictured has no sidewall and is fine for road course racing but not for drag racing. So if that's what your doing is drag racing, focus on the skinnier, but thicker tire. I looked into wheel and tire combos tons after getting 600whp and found that was best. Don't bother trying to fit 345's under the Stingray, it's not going to happen.

my rear forgelines 79mm offset are fine ! It's my CCW's 75mm offset that rub A-arms without 5mm spaced ( reason is ccw are aluminum thicker than metal forgelines)

Yes I'm on a super sticky tire though and I was really at the limits of the car (chasing a track record) i might have to resort to a small spacer.

but no issues on outside fender lips. I will pursue a 325/305 combo next.

To the OP here I would say from savage remarks and back ground work and my looking and reading on these cars. He is telling you correct on this.

But one other guy you can call and talk with is Ben at weapon X in here he is a vendors. Plus has sold and played with more wheel offset wheels than any one vendor in here...

But if you are doing a 1/4 r 1/8 drag car the best tire that I have seen that is also street legal is a M&H drag tire in a 15 inch set up. So you will have to get a set of LG spindle's for the rear. Only way to go here.

Now in a tire for the strip only tire is a MT 275x15 non DOT will hook like no other for these cars... Robert

I am wondering if 345/35/18 would fit with coilovers. Coilovers have been much better at controlling body motion, and it gives me hope that 345s might just work. My 325/30/19 NT01s work well at -2 camber and I am trying to get to 345/35/18s with an 18x11 wheel.

Did you guys get rubbing inside with 18x11 +79 with those 335s?

For road course use what wheels and tires would you recommend without breaking the bank? C7Z06 I may start with stock wheels and stickier tires but eventually want a track only set up in 18 or 19".

I would appreciate any input.

I just ordered a set of BC Forged RZ39s (their best track wheel) at 18". 315/30/18 front, 345/35/18 rear R7s with 18x11 / 18x12.5 wheels would be perfect for you.
