Intake Question : Halltech vs Afe
How does the Afe compare to Halltech?
I know that the Halltech makes more power but I'm worried about installing it. I've read numerous posts of members complaining about lack of instructions and poor fit and finish.
In terms of fit and finish, the Afe looks pretty good, just wonderring how much less power it's making.

Clearance
Which one clears the 2 hot water hoses under the airbox? The stocker clears them by a few inches.

I installed my AFE intake over 3 years ago and its still performing well, isn't showing any signs of age or fatigue, etc. Not a single issue at all to mention, I'm still very happy with it! I've put about 23k miles on it.

Fitment was fine and the install was easy enough working alone with a basic set of hand tools. Just take your time and be patient, it all goes together nicely. I also installed a ported throttle body at the same time.

I have looked into it. The main reason I'm comparing the Halltech and the AEM is because they are the only two offered through Maryland Speed with their "power pack" with the Kooks headers. Right now I have the Halltech on my order but I may change to the AEM.
So far I've been waiting 12 weeks and still no headers or intake. When I placed my order I was told 4 weeks and I was patient until 8 weeks. I've been in constant contact with them but it always the same story. If I don't get a tracking number by the end of next week I'm going to ask for my money back and order from somewhere else and I'll go with Stainless Works and a Vararam.

I wondered how well that would work. They seem pretty full of sh*t every time I call. "The manager is working on it" "the owner is working on it" "They should be in the end of this week." I think its funny how they are a "premium sponsor" on here but they pull crap like this with us members.

Which one is Faster?
Here's how my AFE-1 (w/low flow gray dry filter) runs with the stock tune, maybe some more to be found? I 'think' there are more modified C7/Z06 AFE's in the 9's than Halltech on this forum.
In the AFE-1 pic below you can see where I added a home cut out stick-on 'egg shaped' heat reflector to the bottom side which is out of sight where the radiator hose goes by (but does not touch) the air tube.
Then you just stick what you see above into the AFE air box that is already bolted on the pass. side fender. There is a rubber seal that is part of the air filter that seals to the air box surface opening on the newer AFE-1 and then just clamp the other end to the throttle body with a second clamp that is not in the pic above. Oh, and you do not need to mess with that small coolant hose at all, it went over the top just like on the stock air box just fine for me. See below.
Note: I took that small non-stock 'screw clamp' back off the small rubber hose above and replaced it with the 'original' stock spring clamp one later on. If you need or want to go back to stock with no hose mods, etc. this is it.
