I saw a few people quoting the If you can afford a Z06 now you can afford one later.
What Autoblog is saying is that he said if you can afford a ZR1 you can afford a Z06:
http://www.autoblog.com/2014/01/14/c...not-happening/
3rd paragraph, last sentence.
I think that pricing is more in line with the performance.

(Juechter tells Autoblog that if you were able to afford a C6 ZR1, you can afford a new Z06).

I thought he said if you can afford a c6z06, you can afford a c7z06. have to check.
anyway, it appears that this will cover and exceed the performance of the zr1, and will start at under $80,000.

That's what C&D quoted Tadge as saying. Also, a few other publications mentionwed the fully optioned for under $100k comment. Most signs point to that being the correct message being put out by GM, so I'll just consider this Autoblog article to be mistaken for now.
But technically they are right, if you you were able to afford a C6 ZR1, you'll really be able to afford the C7 Z06

If GM can sleep at night with a $75k sticker on a Z28, then there is no doubt that while the "base" C7Z06 may come in under $100k, the loaded ride (including the Z07 option) will easily break the 6-figure mark.
I've been wrong before, and I would love to be again, but I just don't see it.
With the ZR1, there was either no-options (1ZR) or all the options (3ZR)...and that difference in that swing was about $20K....and both versions had Carbon-ceramic brakes where as the "base" C7Z06 does not. That alone is one pricey option.
My guess: Base Z06 $85K, Fully optioned Z07 $115K

Look for 120k plus mark-up loaded. I think the under a 100k idea is wrong! he sad if your can afford a ZR1!

It's been reported over and over again that he said "if you can afford a C6 Z06" you can afford a C7 Z06" which means it will start in the upper 70s and come in at right under 100k loaded. There's no way it's going to start in the 90s and go to 120k+ especially when a highly capable C7 can be purchased in the low 50s. They're not going to have a 40k gap between a base C7 and a base Z06, that would just be stupid.

I found this:
C&D says every option lower than 100k.
Maybe the poor Viper sales have something to do with it. I still find that hard to believe.
If you assume the Z07 is going to be a 10-12 thousand dollar option using the going rate of 8K for carbon brakes that leaves 2-4 thousand for the aero bits.
That to me would mean a starting price of around the low 80's.
The base model at 82-83 thousand, a 2nd level at 86-87, and then the top level at 99.

Outgoing 2013 Z06 base price is $75,600 plus dest. A base 2013 coupe was $49,600 plus dest. while a C7 is $51,000 plus dest. so only a $1400 price increase between the C6 and C7. I'm guessing base price for the C7 Z06 will be around $78-79k and that would leave room for around $20k worth of various options.

Also, don't forget that there are 3 interior options, 1LZ, 2LZ and 3LZ so there could be as much as an $8K add just for the interior. Then add the other Z07 options you mentioned then the track recorder that's also optional and you can easily get from High 70's to high 90's. The fact you can get into one of these for under $80K and fully optioned stay under $100K is almost as much an achievement as the car itself.

Drifting
C7 makes less power and weighs more...hmmm
Perhaps it will be marginally faster on a track but with a tiny 1.7L blower versus the 2.3L on the ZR1 the modding potential will be less. By now many ZR1's are running around at 750hp+ so I doubt they are concerned about the new Z06

Good for them, but I'd still rather have the new Z06 than a ZR1.

With a 75k Z28, I am thinking the Z06 would have to be 85k+ options. I paid 70k msrp with options for my 06 Z.. By 07 that ballooned to 76k.. By 10 it was 81k for the loaded 2lz.. By 15 I'm thinking 2lz equivalent will be 90k at least.
