Z06 or Z07 and what is Z0?
While I am very interested in Corvettes upcoming new offering I am somewhat confused. Are we talking about the new C7 ZO6 or C7 ZO7?
Also, what do the letters ZO represent and for that matter how about ZR?

They really aren't anything more significant than RPO codes/designations like they have always used. ZR1, ZR2, L88, Z06 etc. That has always been my understanding. If someone else has info to the contrary I will be happy to stand corrected :thumbs

The just announced "wide body" with LT4 supercharged motor are all Z06s.
They can have an option called Z07 that includes more extensive aero pieces, carbon ceramic brakes, sticker tires and a few other details.
All 2015 Z06s and 2014 Stingrays are C7s...7 th generation Corvette.
These option numbers have been used in previous generations and are typically similar in content, but not always.

I'm well aware of the generational sequence C5, C6 and C7. That progression makes sense. You mention that "The just announced "wide body" with LT4 supercharged motor are all Z06s". I always thought that the LT1,2,3,4 referred to interior option packages. Are they now using LT4 to signify the supercharged motor?
So ZR or Z0 or even LT do not appear to be logical progressions or representative of anything specific, or am I missing something?

Interior packages start with a number first, then "LT" standing for "level" (as in what level) and "trim" (for car designers refer to everything inside the car as its trim); therefore the trims are designated 1LT, 2LT, or 3LT for the seventh generation Corvette. Motors are exactly the opposite, starting with the letter "L", so the motor on the 2014 StingRay is LT1 and the motor on the Z06 is the LT4.

Thanks for that, now I understand the difference between 4LT and LT4 (although it is a bit confusing, at least there is some continuity and logic). I also now understand that there will be a C7 Z06 and a C7 Z07.
Are there any "logical" explanations for ZR or Z0?

There will be a Z06 with the aero and brake/wheel option code "Z07"
It will still be a Z06.

There's no such animal as a C7 Z07. It's a C7 Z06, with the Z07 optional package.

So I guess then I did not understand. Perhaps now I do. There will not be a Z07 as that is an option on the C7 Z06. Perhaps there is some logic behind this but I find it confusing and somewhat weak.
So for shorthand, if someone said they had a Z07, could it be anything other than a C7 Z06 with the Z07 option? Or will the Z07 package be available on the C7?
