Default Strange Valvetrain Patent Application

This patent application doesn't seem to have grown up to be a real patent (yet?). Still, I guess it is an attempt at variable lift. Or, am I missing something?

That's what it looks like. Seems overly complex. If you're going to go through all that might as well just go DOHC.

IMO (old school) the difference would be comparing the inherent losses between direct drive versus gear drive (small) versus chain drive (large)

I'm quite sad the centrifugal patent isn't implemented in the Z06. It doesn't seem like trick variable valve timing was ever a priority for GM. sigh

Runge_Kutta I enjoy reading your posts regarding patent applications and was reminded of pneumatic valve technology in Moto GP. I googled pneumatic valvetrain, read the article then at the bottom read the mention of "future valve technology" with electromagnetic suspension valves without camshafts. Don't know if there are any patents application for this yet but nonetheless was very intrigued.

when will we start to see magnetic operated valves ala F1 ?
if it could do 19000 RPM, 7500 in our car would be a walk in the park..
and lot of mechanical stuff can be tossed away for weight saving

C7 Zo6 uses steel rods, so what Does Ti and TiCl4 have to do with the C7?

Does LT4 use Ti intake Valves?
