Default My C7...Their Z06/Z07...Your Crystal Ball

I have a Laguna Blue, Z51, 3LT, etc C7 with current MSRP of ~$73k+.

My dealer (out of state) wants $2k deposit to hold a Z06/Z07 at MSRP.

I would order a fully optioned Z06 and anticipate a $105k MSRP.

By the time of delivery, our C7 should have ~5-7k miles.

Obviously, the price "difference" trading our C7 for the new Z06/Z07 is complete speculation.

But there are people here that have car market and financial savvy.

Would anyone care to speculate as to what the (range of) price difference(s) on the trade.

(I know it would be tempting to venture off into sidebar discussions since there are other ways to "do the deal", but it is a sincere question so I would like to hear financial replies...thank you)

I would guess around 50 grand. He'll probably give you around $ 55,000 for yours, maybe less.

I agree with the above posts. You'll get $52K for your car (give or take $3K). I also agree with your assertion that the MSRP will be $105K with all the options for the Z07.

$55K may even be high on the trade. We still have a lot of months before the Z06 hits the show room. All kinds of things can happen in the sports car market in that time.

suspect your C7 will be worth no more than between $55K--$60K at the time (retail)...
you'll likely get a bit less towards the trade.

Thank you all.

We assumed/estimated that this would be a $50-60k trade difference.

Having our 2014 C7 for that interim period of time makes the early purchase worthwhile for us. It is truly a great car.

We have never enjoyed a car to this extent.

Again, thank you very much for your input.

I say the dealer will offer 45k max towards a trade...and not a penny more.

Have you considered selling your C7 now? You take a smaller hit and some one gets a good deal on a virtually new C7.

It's a great car and would represent an excellent buy.

And depreciation is never pleasant.

I would not want to be without a C7 while awaiting my Z06/Z07 to arrive.

The other option, and we are weighing it as well, is defer on a Z06 until 2016 model, but I am hijacking my own thread.

I appreciate all of the input.

You do realize the Z07 version makes the Z06 a "track ready" car, right? For starters, stiff ride and the treadlife of those summer/dry pavement-only Michelin Cup tires - 8k miles...and replacements ain't cheap. Not being negative, just wouldn't want you to make a $90K+ mistake. Sometimes "top-of-the-line" isn't for everybody. There's a lot of Corvette owners that didn't opt for the C6Z for the same reason.

I agree....you won't see anything in the 50K-60K range and the Z06 will be too new to get any break on either. Add to this that the dealer already knows you really WANT the car to be willing to take a hit like this so they will take full advantage of you IMO.
