Noted. All the more reason then for a system (launch control, PTM, whatever...) that continuously determines how much torque to supply to the wheels based on available traction. The effective torque of the LT4 after multiplication through the first gear of the 8-speed will be largely unmanageable for anyone other than the most gifted "featherers of the throttle" without such a setup.

All I meant by moot was that it was "debatable" which is what these discussions aim to do anyway. As you noted yourself, magazine times are obtained under more controlled conditions thus making for valid comparisons across multiple cars, especially when those numbers come from comparos done on the same day by the same driver under identical track conditions.
