Default 2015 Dodge Challenger Hellcat vs 2015 Corvette Z06

I just watched the video in the link below and the Gas Monkeys guys just ran a 10.8 on drag radials (11.2 on street tires) quarter mile in the new stock 2015 Dodge Challenger Hellcat.

I still think the 2015 Z06 will outrun the hellcat's quarter mile time with the same tires in a drag race and especially around a road course. The hellcat cat has 57 more HP, but it is also alot heavier than the new Z06. With all this said, I never dreamed 5-10 years ago we would see a stock amercian car with 707 HP and 10 second quarter mile times. Also, I would love to see a new ZR1 corvette.

The Z06 will out launch it and pull away from it all the way down the track.

It's a great time for American muscle for sure. My last car was a 2013 GT500 with 662hp. It was insane and honestly kinda scary. I can only imagine what the Challenger will be like. Good to see Chrysler able to bring a car like this to market considering their position a few years ago.

Someone had already gone under 11 seconds in a Viper on drag radials and he had to shift like a man, none of that girly automatic nonsense.

With 700hp it's still ugly as hell! I'd buy a cobra or Z28 first. That car won't compare to the Z06 on a drag strip or road course. Too heavy

That's what I said, any girl can mash the gas but it takes talent to get the most out of a car with a manual.

But wait...you cant !

I think Chrysler has hit a home run with this one.....

The Hellcat Challenger will be a lot easier car to live with as a daily driver versus the c7 z06....

What is your point? Both the Hellcat and Z06 are going to be available with manual or automatic. Care to bet which will be faster in the quarter mile on both cars?

That car is HID-EE-US!! Ugly Dodge junk. Who cares how fast it is if it's that ugly, I'd never want to take it out.

I think it's going to be very interesting to see what the manual Hellcats do. It took me a few track outings to figure out the best way to get my '13 GT500 down the track because of all the torque management, and I ended up going 11.3 at almost 128 mph bone stock down here in Orlando. But that was with a car making less power than the Hellcat, on a slightly wider tire (albeit slightly shorter) and weighing over ~500# less...but really a very valid comparison (relatively heavy, RWD, ~700 horsepower, M6's on skinny tires). IMO the Hellcats with the manual are going to have a hard time putting down the power and that's why Dodge is showing off the A8. They hit the tires a little easier and allow the car to get down the track without tire spin or the attendant torque management that I'd guess the Hellcat is going to have to avoid grenading the drivetrain.

Regarding comparing it to the C7 Z06. IMO the Corvette will be .5 quicker and probably 5-7 mph faster same day, same track.

I agree with several others, the hellcat is just flat out ugly. The 2015 Z06 will drag the hellcat down the drag strip and a road course race would not even be close.

I have no idea what all the fuss is about seriously, why even compare the Fatcat to the Z or Stingray for that matter? Compare it to a Z28 or GT500, that's what it's direct competition is, sure as hell not the Corvette. Any monkey can install gobs of bhp and go fast in a straight line, but as I have learned, curves play a huge part of racing, more so than straights. The Fatcat still is an ugly car (IMO) that can't handle worth a crap. Good for MOPAR for getting it done but I'd sooner take a older Viper for the same money and less bhp than that land barge.

what is the deal with some people calling the challenger ugly? it is is the best looking muscle car right now. imo current vette is not a muscle car it is a sportscar. Sure the challenger doesn't look as good as the stingray but its still a great looking car.
