How many Z06's will they build?
I was pretty surprised by the price, maybe not the base price but the 2LZ package price.
For a hair under 83k that is a helluva deal. I was thinking 2LZ was going to be closer to 89k, or hoping since that was my magic cut off number
So it makes me wonder how many they will build. Is there more capacity than they plan?
Price is based on value/capacity. Pricing it this low will for sure make sales and get more people in the door but if they cannot get a car then why not just sell it at a higher price so the demand meets the output?
Pricing it where it is tells me someone at GM is horrible at forecasting or they have more production capacity than they had the first year.
Third option is they believe that the low price will reduce regular C7 sales and they will become Z06 sales.
My car was 61K Z51 2LT, NPP, MRC, CF accents but a lot of you on here paid into well into the 70's.
Considering what all you get for 10K more they must think they are going to convert C7 sales into Z06 sales, not to mention bringing in new customers.

Most first year models will be fully loaded with a few ordered exceptions.....which means a healthy transaction price and profit.
Within 6 months as the value halo has been cemented by the media.....gm will raise the base price and do so multiple times in the near future.
Just my opinion....,this pricing relationship between z51 versus z06 is in my opinion logical and sales will be dramatic.
Gm will build as many as they can sell.,,,first year every year.

You would think it would take away from 3 lt C7's. A 78k C7 is not too hard to do!

I think it will become the highest production Z06 ever, combining the targa/vert/auto possibilities means lots more people will consider this purchase. I expect to see 10-15k built at least......which for a Z06 is big production.

It's what the customer wants, so it should sell a bunch. Still makes me a bit sad though.

GM can't build an unlimited amount of Z06's. GM can't build as many as they can sell if demand exceeds their production forecast. Just like the C6 Z06 here GM figured they could sell 7,000 Z06's annually, that's the number of Z06 parts that they contracted their suppliers to build.
If GM figures they can sell 7,000 C7 Z06's annually and 8,000 people want them annually for the first couple of years, GM can't build as many as they can sell. 1,000 buyers are not going to get a Z06 until the initial demand drops(as it always does).
I doubt that GM will build over 3,500 2015 Z06's due to the shortened production schedule, and that will mean that there will be plenty of people that want to buy a 2015 Z06, will be waiting for the 2016 model year Z06 where they will have a full twelve months production cycle to meet the demand.

http://www.corvetteblogger.com/docs/...tedat650hp.pdf "The LT4 is assembled at the new Performance Build Center at GM’s Bowling Green Assembly Plant and at GM’s Tonawanda engine plant in New York." Is it wrong? Looks official to me.
I gladly agree.
They'll make as many as are ordered.

Perspective is important... You're on an enthusiast forum focused on Corvettes, so not a good finger on the pulse of mainstream USA. $80-100k is still a lot of money for a car, and not everyone needs or wants 650 ponies and the performance provided.
They will undoubtedly build and sell a ton of them, and I agree it likely will be the best selling Z ever. It will be interesting in the end to see the final numbers and contrast them with historical figures.

Chevy is probably going to get a lot of positive pr for the pricing. I am guessing that they probably won't be available until 1st qtr of 15. I am also guessing that most are already spoken for. It would not surprise me if we see a price increase in March and another for the 16's. Just my $.02 worth. I hope I'm wrong as I want to order one next fall.

If I still lived somewhere I had access to a high speed track like Road America, I would definitely want the added horses, but all the easy access tracks around me are relatively low speed affairs. 650HP would keep Road America from getting boring on the front straight.

I asked my rep at a major forum dealer on 15' Z06 production yesterday. He was at the dealer session on Z06's. He said a qty of around 5,000 was the target number. I would guess plus or minus 10% of that number. We know demand will be there but will the parts suppliers keep up or fall behind like on the Z51 constraints and CF tops.
