Now that the Z06's are starting to be delivered, I was wondering if there were any Z06 owners that did not like their clear rear tail light lenses and want to trade for red tail lights? I have a new 2015 Z51. If you are interested in a trade, please send me a PM. Yes, I know the clear lights are unique to the Z06 but there might be someone that simply does not like them and would prefer the red lights instead.

I think you will find several people that don't care for the clear.

I read that the Z06 ones were wider than the stingray's so that they didn't look out of place on the wider rear end.

I heard just the opposite, that the tail lights are the same size, just clear vs red. Obviously if the Z06 lights are larger it will be a mote point to try to trade. A quick measurement of both lights will determine if they are larger or not.

The clear lights have already been put in a Stingray, documented on the forum... somewhere.

I too may know of a nice set of reds that could be swapped for clears.

Maybe it's just me, but your Thread Title "Trade Z06 Tail Lights for Z51 Lights" should actually read "Trade Z51 Lights for Z06 Tail Lights".

YOU are the person with the Z51 Lights looking to get the Z06 Lights, not the other way around.

Thanks, you are right someone has already installed the clear Z06 lights into a Stingray, but I do not remember which member did it.

Sorry man. Changed my mine after living with the car. I love the clears. I'm sure someone will swap with you though.

I totally understand. I spent the morning working with my friend's Z06 Stage 1 this morning lowering the car. One main tip is to definitely use a jack to lift the transverse spring and take the pressure off the lowering bolts. Good luck with your car.

At Sebring in March where the C7Z was introduced Tadge said the tail lights were interchangeable if clear was not preferred. Red would be my choice.

As far as I know, all Z06's come with clear tail lights. I am not sure they can be ordered with red tail lights.

The ZO6 tails look best with Silver and Gray. They give the car a mono-chromatic look.

Anyone who decides to make this swap better know what it will take to do it. Taking off the entire rear end is quite a bit of work (I helped a friend put a spoiler on his C7). You have to be careful to avoid any nicks and make sure you get everything aligned properly.

The good news is that there are how-to posts out there that tell you where all the fasteners are located.

I've only seen the clear on a silver Z06, but have seen the red on every color Stingray. I thought the clear on the sliver looked good(for a non round taillight ). I still think that the smoked ones that were shown on the early Z06 preproduction show car photos looked best.

I'm down for a tail light swap right now, the sooner the better. If we wait I might change my mind, hurry!

BTW, I am near San Antonio Texas so if you have a local Z06 we can swap them out easier.

As a possible alternative...Is there a way to "tint" the clear lenses without dimming the brightness to much? It might be easier than replacing entire assemblies.
