Default Should I drive mine home in the rain?

Hi everyone. This is my first post, and my first Corvette. I've been reading posts here for a while, and I really appreciate the great information everyone shares.

There's a chance my car may be ready tomorrow (Saturday) and there is a 100% chance of rain predicted.

I have the regular tires (not the cups). It's about a 45 minute drive. Sunday is supposed to be a nice day, so if I wait until Monday I miss a great driving day.

What are your thoughts on driving it in the rain?

I'm really, really excited...it's pretty much a childhood dream fulfilled with this car...and if it's ready but not pick it up...arghhh...

Thank you in advance!

Seth

PSS should be fine in the rain, just take it easy and watch out for standing water.

It has windsheild wipers, right?

Be brave and enjoy!

It won't melt. I've driven my C6 Z06 in the rain with the PSS and they are fine (within reason).

You will be very disappointed to be home on Sunday with great sun and wishing you could take the new Z for a great Sunday drive.

Do it!

Oh yea by the way, welcome to the forum. I must admit that I am jealous because your first post on here was , " I am the new guy, this is my first post, and I just bought me the baddest / fastest / best looking Corvette ever made, but I don't think I want to drive it."

Slow down for deep water and you should be ok. If the car starts to feel a little loosy goosy that is an indication you are in deep water for the car.

We ran into this on our drive home with our 2011 Z06/07 and made it ok. It can be a little tense in a new and unfamiliar car.

Super Sports are fine in the rain within reason....

I've discovered that he Sport Cups are fine with wet roads (no standing water) as long as you drive like it is a normal car and not like I usually drive. I let them break loose in a straight line a few times to get an idea of the level of grip. I wouldn't drive them through any standing water, but as long as you're reasonable, a wet road isn't awful.

If they were keeping it in the showroom, I personally wouldn't drive it just because I wouldn't want to clean it right away. Other than that you won't have any issues.

After recovering from laughter, I must say I ABSOLUTELY WANT TO DRIVE IT! I can't contain myself! I'd be up all weekend second guessing myself if I didn't pick it up. I just wanted to make sure I'm not crazy.

Of course, I'm asking a bunch of Corvette nuts if I should drive the "baddest / fastest / best looking Corvette ever made" in the rain...I should have known the answer to that one. Dumb question :-)

MPSS will be fine in the wet. Just be smooth with gas.

They say picking up a new car when it's raining brings good luck.

Congratulations and welcome to the corvette family

I'm in Connecticut. It supposed to be 49 tomorrow with rain building through the day.

I just spoke with the dealer, and it seems Monday is much more likely, but I'm still hoping for tomorrow :-) The car has been shipped, but not yet delivered, so the prep time window is starting to close.
