Default Trade-in value

Spoke with dealer today about buying Z06 and trading my 2015 Z51 list for 69740, was offered 55000 and 1500 of Z06. Will pass and wait till I can get a reasonable discount on Z06. 27000 diff not happening in this life time. Will look at 2013 Z06 or Zr1.
I regret getting rid of my 2012 Z06.

First year is a tough hit for sure. I am in the same boat as you, but kind of glad not getting the first year Z. I think they will work out some kinks, and we can go into a 2016 with supplier pricing and sell our 2014's out right.

Exactly. If one paid list or received only a nominal discount, then don't be shocked come trade-in time... unfortunately but it is what it is, the dealer will lowball most of the time on C7 trade-ins... they have to in order to resell or wholesale it out and not take a loss. Be prepated to bring lubricant, sorry to say.

The ones that'll reap the most (or lose less )are those who got employee pricing or received a significant discount off msrp.

I bought at good discount but they looked at invoice and knew what I paid and under cut that. Got car August 23, not quiet 4 months old and 14740 hit is big knew I would take hit trade my z thinking it would lose to much value to keep it lee me see one of 472 or one of 38000. I use to trade for 3000 a year diff.

I don't understand. If you paid under MSRP, how exactly are you taking a 14470 hit?

Based on historical resale of the C6 z06, does anyone have any thoughts on what a 2015 Z06 will be worth in spring 2017? I intend to keep mine 2 or 3 years and then move on to something else. Blade Silver, MT, 2LZ pack with carbon trim, exposed carbon roof. no extra aero or z07 package, I think sticker is in the 85k range roughly - paid full MSRP.

Here is some data for you. I paid MSRP for my C7 Z51 3LZ in June to the tune of $71K. Carmax (which usually beats any dealer trade-in offer I've received) offered me $53K this week for it. I actually spoke to the appraiser and she said that she loved the car but did some research and this is what they have been paying for C7s at auction in PA so she couldn't offer more.

Fortunately, the dealer offered significantly more in trade towards the C7Z even though I am paying MSRP for the car. So I feel like in the end it's a pretty good deal especially when you figure that there will be price increases coming along with those future discounts and my Z51 certainly won't be appreciating. So the cost delta from my current Z51 to Z06 will only get bigger and I'll get that many more months of enjoyment.

55k isn't a bad trade in offer if you take into account the supplier discount people are getting.
I'm in the process of ordering a 2015 stingray DSOM, 2lt, z51, mag ride, comp seats, carbon interior, few other little things for 64k. With the 1200 off that puts you losing 7,800.00 on a used car.
Dealer will have to price it about 58-60k and it will take a person that want those options to buy it instead of spending a little more for exactly what they want and a new car with 3 miles on it.
Is the dealer making money on both ends, he'll yes that's why they are in business. Are they taking you behind the shed and doing you dirty, I don't see it like that.
I traded in my 2012 camaro as one year later with 9k miles on it and took a 12k loss.

I feel for you. I purchased my 2014 z51 in 1/15/14 sold it in July to get ready for my z06. Dealer did not want the car so I sold it to a specialty shop for my My original MSRP - 1k. The price increase in March helped me since the same car would have been 70k plus. I needed it gone before they released the 2015 c7 to avoid another hit. Drove to the specialty dealer last week with my new z06 since he wanted to see one in person. He said my C7 today if I waited would have been worth 52k cash out deal. The 3LZ package is money lost if you ever sell the car. If you are a person that likes to move out of cars quickly never buy a new car with alot of options unless you want to loose your A when selling it. Try to buy options that are a must have and avoid the others unless you are keeping the car for 5 years. I buy and sell cars all day long and my new z has one boxed checked and that was Nav/PDR. Other than it being a manual transmission car and many wanting the A8 I should be okay on resale down the road. To make you feel better my friend bought a Lambo special edition cost him 312k out the door, two months later and 900 miles he decided he did not fit in it, dealer offered him 228k for trade. He decided to keep it for a year and still lost big time. I hope no one is paying over MSRP for the new Z if you do you will be paying for it in the end, I wish you good luck.
