Default Check Engine Light

After picking up my new Z06 yesterday I had put about 800 miles on it and when I did a 5th gear pull from about 110-150 it gave me a "Engine Power Reduced" alert and also the speed was limited to about 60 mph and the car would not get into boost.
I stopped and restarted my car but the "check engine" light stayed on. Called onstar and they said it had code p228c which was something to do with fuel pressure being too low or something like that.
It seems that the power is back to normal and there's no mph limit on speed now but the Check Engine is still on.
Anybody else experience this or know how to remedy the problem?
Is it still safe to drive my car like that?

That "c" tacked on the end of the p228 code indicates that it is "current" thus you need to have it checked. If it had been a p228h that would mean that it was "history" and not current.

Fuel pressure is not something you want to play with. Take it in.

I wouldn't mess around with a fuel pressure code on a direct injected engine. I'd take it to a certified dealer ASAP to have it inspected.

Not like our C5s... they did away with that cool trick on C6s and up. Have to have a code reader now.

Ha. Well there's your problem.

Maybe that is the heat/pulled timing issues on the z06.

The fuel lines are too small a diameter for proper volume delivery. Fuel pressure is only half the battle you know...

Definitely take it right to a dealer.
Makes no sense screwing around with it....it's under warranty.

FWIW, on my drive home from picking up my CTS-V a couple of years ago an injector became stuck in the wide-open position drowning the engine and scaring the crap out of me.
The CHECK ENGINE icon blazing away and the car sputtering and coughing was not a great experience with my brand new Caddy.
The car died on the freeway, but I managed to get it to a Home Depot parking lot before calling for a tow.
I didn't know exactly what happened until after the dealer looked at it and identified the problem as a defective part.

Needless to say, I wasn't happy.
However, the injector was replaced and haven't had a single problem with the car since.

Did you already have the 500 mile oil change performed? If yes, maybe they screwed something up. If no, now you have an excuse to bring it to the dealer to get it done.

On my C6 Z06 I can clear the codes two ways. Take it to AutoZone and have them clear it with their code reader(for free), or I can disconnect the battery for, say, 5 minutes, and it will clear codes.

Stop driving it.

Bring it in to dealer at turtle speed.

After talking with onstar they said immediate attention was not required but to have it checked at my convenience.
That being said I drove it another 300 miles home and like I said the power seems to be back to normal and boost picks up like before but the light is steady on. I didnt pound on it anymore after that but mainly to check if it would go into boost and accelerate like before.
I was also contemplating disconnecting the battery and see if it the light stays off after driving some miles.

I don't want to be rude but this needs to go in.
This is not one of those "let me see how it plays out"
If you go into boost and there is a defective injector or other part of the fuel system that is not up to par, the consequences will be very unforgiving to say the least.

The car is fully warranted. Why would you not take it in? Sticking your head in the sand and hoping it will never happen again probably isn't the best way to address it.

I had a check engine light come on after I started it at work on the 2nd day of ownership? ... Onstar said something was showing an error on the engine/transmission system? I did not get the code, I could barely understand Her! ... Car ran fine Home, shut off and re-started. Engine Light gone? .... Hopefully it was a fluke and doesn't come back but I will have the Dealer check the History when the first Oil change gets performed? ....

Better be careful. Internet hysteria is going to turn the check engine lights that the two of you have gotten in to "all Z06's are faulty!"

Default Update!

Just turned it on right now after having parking it for like 8 hours.
It cranked up fine and the check engine light is finally GONE!
I didn't disconnect the battery.
Is it safe to say I'm in the clear?

My dealer is Rick Conti and I live in Houston.
I prefer to stay away from the dealers as much as possible anyways.
I hate the wait and I have always enjoyed working on my own cars.
I'll be doing the oil change myself instead of risking some tech at the dealer overfilling the dry sump or cross threading the drain plugs or doing something careless.
With my '14 Z-51 I was not pleased with a local dealer when I took it in for a TPMS sensor that needed to be replaced and computer had to be updated because PTM wasn't working.
I got the car back with 30 extra miles, a scratched kick panel, and a tire that picked up a nail and they said I had to pay for a new tire since run flats cannot be patched up.
