Which is quicker after timing pull Z06 stick or z51 A8
Just wondering how much slower the Z06 is after it pulls timing. And if it can still pull a z51 a8.
Has anyone compared the two under these conditions and how close are they then.
Now I know the Z06 will lap a track faster but what about 1/4 mile or on the street after several runs.

I've owned both so I can give a good comparison.
The z51 feels much faster.
Oh wait, this could be the dumbest question I've ever seen on here, and that is saying something....

Not that dumb if a Z06 pulls timing and drops down in HP and the a8 trans is worth .3 seconds or more versus the m7 in the quarter.
Then the results could be a big supprize.
Acting like its a foregone conclusion which one would be quicker. It might just supprize people.
It's one thing to say I don't care if a viper beats me or porsche. But what happens if it turns out to be no quicker then a regular A8 after getting hot.
That's why I asked the question Has anyone tryed this yet??

We just don't know enough about the Z06 yet in order to come to conclusion. I was hoping that some of the reputable shops drag raced the car before the tune and other mods. It seemed like they just left us in the dark on this one. More to come, I hope.

There was PDR video posted in October from someone who had run an M7 Z51 at Road America. He was just touching 150 before braking at 1 and 5.
The pros running the Z06 at Road Atlanta topped out around 154 before braking for 12.
I have raced at both tracks. My top speed at Road Atlanta was about 5 mph higher than my top speed at Road America.

Depends who is driving, manuals can be tricky to master...a manual C7 Z06 will lose to a Chevrolet Spark if driven poorly enough.
With excellent (and especially equal) drivers, there should be NO conditions or situations (heat soak/pulled timing/hot lapped/sweltering summer day or otherwise) where a bone stock C7 LT1 (automatic or manual) will beat a bone stock C7 Z06 (manual or automatic). C7 LT1s can get hot too ya know (just less so).
I will say this though, two separate C7 LT1s (one an 8 speed automatic and one a 6 speed automatic) have both traversed the 1/4 mile in a mere 11.37 seconds with 120-124mph trap speeds, that's no joke.
But what this does tell me is that the C7 Z06 will go 10s at over 130mph in the right hands/right conditions.

C7 A6, A8, Z51, all run about the same in a straight line.
In fact the fastest C7 is a Z51 A6 and the second fastest is a non-Z51 A8.
The M7 in C7 or Z06 puts driver in to the equation.
Sure, I think if the M7 Z06 driver spins his tires or shifts incredibly poorly, the Automatic (A8 or A6) could win in the 1/4 or street, but only until the Z06 stops spinning or gets in to a gear and holds it there.
The Z06 will not pull enough timing to make a difference in the 1/4 or a street race.
A new to the C7Z driver ran his car and even messing up and shifting in to 5th on one run he still ran 11.7@120, his best out of 3 runs was 11.5@124.6.
Sure, in perfect conditions the C7 A6 and A8 have trapped 122-124 on isolated runs, maybe due to some spinning, but their best have been A6 11.372@120 and A8 11.377@122.
The Z06 trap speeds already show it is much faster based off one driver.
The highest trap speeds 122 and 124 by C7 A6 and A8 drivers were by pros.
Most A6 and A8 C7s with very good drivers trap around 119-120
I am so sick of the A8, Z51, and NPP guys who make it like it is a totally different car in a straight line. We are talking slight differences between all of them. A C7 is a C7, but a Z06 is a totally different animal.

We all know, it is much easier to put the power to the pavement or to get a 455-460hp car down the track than a 650hp car also, especially on street tires.
On the street my C7 A6 non-npp non-z51 will break the tires loose at speeds up to 65mph in very cold weather. Imagine a 650hp Z06.
