Another Check Engine Light. Won't go into gear. 144 miles....
While driving to work this morning I came out of first and go to shift into second and it was locked out. Tried third, same thing. Ended up pulling over and restarting the car. Check engine light was on and I could only go into first gear, fourth gear, and reverse. Going to take it into the dealer now and see what happens. Very disappointing as there is only 144 miles on the car.

Did you get onstar to give you the error code? They can give it to you and you can look it up online to get a general idea of what's up. I just had a CEL on mine and got code p0053 related to emissions (O2 sensor).

It makes you say that regardless of how expensive a GM car is and how advanced it is and how amazing it sounds, it still is "a GM product" that has a terrible reliability record and poised to have recalls and bad rep.

5-6 cars that broke down out of 70 is almost 10% failure rate. That is unacceptabe for a car that is their flagship model and sells for 100k.

I don't disagree at all that early CELs are a concern and, frankly, I'm glad they are being reported here so we can all see what codes/sensors etc are involved. That said, I'm neither worried about any sort of epidemic issues, or that the individual cases won't be quickly resolved. And that's coming from somebody who is going to be taking Museum deliver of mine in a couple weeks and driving it almost 800 miles home.

Cars are on warranty. Most people seem very happy with their c7s.
Porsche put new engines in their GT3s. Almost every make out there has had recalls.
BMW is not exactly known for stellar reliability either. Assume from your avatar that's what you own. I have had really good luck with my gm vehicles in the past. And had 08 z06 , 96 ,97 and 99 trans ams.
All were fine for reliability and while not Porsche quality were also not Porsche price.

Despite the percentage, still disappointing that a CEL comes on after only 144 miles. Shouldn't happen. I think that was all the OP was trying to say.

I hear ya. I probably come to this from a position of higher comfort than you. If I recall, you've never owned a Corvette. I've purchased, brand new, 3 widebody C6s that have been bullet-proof reliable, and had robust reliability with both tracking each of them and driving them all over the country. I have a feel for how durable these machines can be.

Draw your own conclusions regarding the validity of his comments because, I frankly don't get it.

Wanabe Stig does not nor ever has owned own a Corvette, his avatar is a BMW, is on the C7 Z06 Corvette site all the time and is ALWAYS posting negative comments about Corvettes?

Seems to be a well tested car before going on sale to the public.
